Thumbs up Alignment tip for Ls under 12,000 miles

I LOVE my service advisor!

My 2002 with 1600 miles on the clock was pulling left during braking, so it went to the dealer.

The service writer that I've used for years told me that he had "alignment cams" put in, because from the Factory they are set to spec. and do not have these cams in them. Down the road (and over 12,000 miles), if the front end needs alignment, and these cams are needed, it's $400.00 just for for them! Gotta keep this guy happy

So, my tip is to see about getting these cams put in while you're still under the 12,000 miles - sounded like it was not a covered component for the extended warranty (maybe cuz it was not on the truck to begin with?).

WOW they are ripping someone. $30 worth of parts and about 1 hour of labor to put in? My Alignment with the cam bolts & labor was only like $140 or something?

Ford put the cam bolts in mine too. No charge. Oh I almost forgot bought my service writer and mechanic lunch. Cheap insurance. The few times I have been in for service. Always got what I wanted. Bob.

What kind of crack are they smoking? $400?

Uh, try 2 x $15/set at Napa Auto Parts with about 1.5hrs labor to install. Shouldn't be more than $150 total.

$400.00.... well, this is Palm Springs. Just for grins I priced the Bullit fuel door knowing they'd be high and they quoted me
$144.00!!!!! So, yeah, guess they are smokin' crack there
