I Hate Life

Ok, let's get to the point here. I just my **** handed to me (i mean about 5 car lengths) by a Talon. Granted, it had an intercooler and a turbo w/ 28 psi and big injectors. (I think it runs 12's, or should).......I felt ok, b/c i think he should theoretically run like a 12.6, that means, figuring 1 car length = about .1 sec, I ran about a 13.2. Is that what i should run with my JL kit and Superchip?

Next, after that race i ran from a rolling 20mph a BMW M Coupe. I got about a 2sec jump b/c he didnt start w/ me, but after about 3/4 a mile he went flying by. I guess i shouldn't worry b/c that's a 48k car, and if i put 20k into my L it would prob smoke him, but still, it makes me angry.

NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE NGK'S ARE BEING ORDERED TOMORROW, INSTALLED BY FORD FOR 68.00 BY NEXT WEEK, AND MINTUES LATER MY CHIP/4LB PULLEY COMBO GETS ORDERED FROM JL. THEN LETS SEE WHO WINS. (what do u guys think i'll run w/ this combo?)

(P.S. That Talon guy took me for a ride in his car, and um, turbos with that much boost feel fricking incredible to ride in b/c it slams your head into the seat like crazy)

don't feel bad. turbocharged talons can move. i have a friend who has one similar to the one you described. all i have to say is that sucker can hustle. but i do not like how turbos "kick in". i perfer a smooth increase of power rather than a sudden boost with the turbos. some have mastered the art though. my dads associate (spelling?) has a porsche turbo he took me for a ride in....it made my neck snap alright. but all the way through. did not feel it "kick in". i probably would if i drove it myself though. but i hear the old porsche turbos kick in like mad. the new ones have a steadier flow. oh well...i am getting of topic. don't feel bad about your truck. ya, lemme say it again. your TRUCK. you have quite a nice ride!

unlike superchargers, turbos have to "spool" or kick in. This happens, and then the car makes power

don't get mad get even-mods mods.

some talons are awd and can run low 12's with that much boost.

remeber there is ALWAYS someone faster.

good luck on the re-match

Yeah but there are the ball bearing turbos that as soon as you turn the key the turbine is spinning and no more turbo lag.

Hehe!! Dont feel bad, I hated life worse when my L was stock! Got into it with some punk kid in about a 68 chevy short bed. It looked like a freakin' farm truck.....grey primer, rust holes all down the side of it,none of the wheels or tires matched, had one shock just swinging back and forth on the right rear, and it was loud as hell. I just laughed at him when he pulled up beside me, we went from a 20 roll and that SOB damn near pulled the front tires off the ground!!! He got me 6-7 car car lengths and all I could see was hay, candy wrappers, and beer cans flyin out the back end of it!!WTF?? Talk about life suckin'!!!! Turns out the guy had a built 454 and all his money was in the driveline!! What a sleeper. After stopping and talking with him, he seemed like a good kid, you could even see the ground through the floorboard it was rusted so bad! Oh well, life goes on I guess. This is one of the main reasons I modded mine!

You Drive A Box

As far as the BMW goes, what are you doing racing past a 1/4mi? Think your aerodynamic or something?

I own a '98 BMW M3 (same motor as the coupe) and i wouldn't want to run it in my Lightning for more than 1/4 mile. With only a chip i can run high 13's (bone stock is 14.0). The limited top speed is 137 but with the chip which removes the limiter, it will top out around 157mph which is gear limited. In other words, with a 6th gear it would easily pull 165mph plus.

So throw on a chip/pulley and you'll have NO problem against ANY BMW to about 120mph, new M3 and M5 included. Just pretend you have to turn down the next street when you get up that high.

At Farmington Dragway, a few weeks ago, I outran an AWD Talon. He jumped me two car lengths at the light but I ran him down at the other end. No doubt about it, he was fast. I thought I wouldn't catch him but the Lightning kept gaining ground all the way to the line.

To me it looked like a tie but the timeslips don't lie.

ok, maybe it wasnt that far b/c i was at 125 when i let off. It felt like a long ways though I dont ever take it higher. Actually, that's the fastest i've ever had it. Chickenears, was that AWD talon running 28 psi boost? Yeah i'll definetly do better after the mods, but no, i wanted to get them anyway, this just put the nail in the coffin so-to-speak.

28PSI??? WOW lower than 12's buddy. My friend has one with 19-21 in the low 12's. If he really pushes 28 psi he is in the 11's....

i saw his boost guage (aftermarket not stock) hit a little past 28 psi when he gunned it. Also iculokn, i don't think 11's. Like i said he only got me by 5 car lengths, and right now all i got is a superchip and jl air kit. Also, ALL he has is injectors, intercooler, turbo, and boost control module. Nothing else, so no, it really didnt feel like a 11sec car.

I don't know how much boost he was running but he DID say something about using a bigger turbocharger and it wasn't running as good as it use to.

I didn't know the guy and had only talked to him in the staging lane. I really didn't ask him any question.
