To be frank, the trannies in the L are "quirky". Thay have the 1-2 shift torque reduction, which is kinda strange when you first feel it, but you get used to it, learn to "drive" around it or a lot of people have chips made to remove it. Then there's a very noticeable convertor lockup that seems pretty normal to me (I'm a transmission repairman) but if you're not used to it, it takes some getting used to.
Drive it awhile and feel out what it does, then make a decision on if you want a chip, shift kit or other mods. I personally recomend you get a shift kit/line mod valve of some kind if you do any mods beyond a mild chip, the tranny holds up fine if you leave the motor stock, but stock is pushing the limits of what the tranny was built for and if you upgrade the engine without doing something to the tranny you may have issues later on.

Hope this helps,

G
