Silver-Bolt's Viper Seat Conversion Photos

Here are some photos of Silver-Bolt's Viper seat transplant.

http://communities.msn.com/PortlandL...nw?albumlist=2

I sat it in today when we met up for lunch. The seats are much more comfortable in comparison to the stock Lightning seats.

NOTE: This is not my truck so I won't be able to field any of your questions.

Enjoy!

The seats look like great seats! It does look a bit odd with the chrome area and with it being open showing that the seat is sitting up on a bracket. I bet they're great in the corners!

I'll try this again:

I bet those seats are great, but that bracket has got to be the most awfulliest thing I have ever seen.

Seats look good!

Did you ever figure out if you can get a Bazooka sub into the console? If not, check the Subwoofers forum here - the've already figured that one out!

Wow should have known it would be a tough crowd. Normally not much of the mounting shows at all. I slid the seats all the way back for the pics. The plates al only as wide as the factory mounting rails. I do plan to round off the corners and was considering having them anodized black. When I put it together I was torn between making the plates blend in (black) or stand out. I chose stand out so I polished them. With the seats in a normal position it looks much better with just the edges showing. Matches the billet pedals nicely. I did use a 2000+ Expy console, the version without heat controls. The seats are new Viper seats that I bought on e-bay. My biggest concern with the install was strength. A failed seat bracket could turn a minor accident into a fatality. The plates are 3/8" thick 6061-T6 aluminum. All the factory mounting points were used and reinforced with washer and nuts on the back side. Looks to be about a 50lb weight saving overall.

Awesome looking seats....big improvement over our ghetto cloth (fake suede) ones...but yeah that bracket is a bit ungainly.

I don't think he painted the storage box. Some trucks came with grey and some trucks came with black...

Hey...I wonder if Hennessey Motorsports sold those seats on E-Bay? Remember that post awhile back about him selling that guys front end and wheels? Guy took a brand new Viper to him and a check for 100K plus another 20K and still doesn't have his car. Very pissed off at himself and Hennessey. Anyway your seats look good but the plates need a little work. Some black carpet and black plates would be way cool. IMHO
