Watkins Glen

Opening Day May 5th

Opening Day
Here's your chance to see The Glen from a different perspective - driving it! Back by popular demand, guests have the opportunity to drive their own vehicle for three controlled laps around the NASCAR circuit in an event designed to benefit local charities. For just $15, drive the same course as Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and Rusty Wallace. Don't feel like driving? Then take a ride in an Official Pace Car. Also, don't forget that May 5th is The Glen's deadline for purchasing tickets at the special advance sale price. The ticket office will be open, so don't delay!

Why don't all Tracks do this?? Especially those with Left and Right Turns!

Speeding Bob,

You'd have some fun!

What speed is the controlled lap?

If its low-end race speed (100ish), you'll want to upgrade brakes or make an appointment for new pads after driving the glen.

Actually I'll be driving at the Glenn on July 22 and 23 (Mon and Tues). I joined Performance Drivers Association (for $35 per year) and they have the track for the 2 days for $220 per day. It's a bit more than Reality1 is talking about, but you get 2 full days of driving, which for me makes the 6 hours trip to the track worth while.

Tom G,

Sounds like Fun, wish it was close to me. 220/da doesn't seem expensive to me, cheaper than a ticket. I wish Chicagoland Speed way would do something like that. And, they might be closing, No CART race scheduled and I can't find out why yet.

Tom, Can you get some pictures of their Pace Truck???

Jim,

I don't have a digital camera. I am going with another guy though. If he has one I'll get a picture of the pace truck for you.
