Sorry to repeat-has anyone heard if svt will keep the 4.6 or will they go to the 5.0. Will Lightning be around in 03 or will it be vastly improved soon. Need to know b4 I buy!!

 

I am pretty sure the 5.0 is history. The 03 Cobra will be nice. As far as the L, nobody knows....

 

Actually the 4.6 is being replaced by the 32 valve 5.0 in the 04 Cobra. However it will be the last of the old body style. The new body style has been pushed back to 05 with an introduction in the summer of 04. As usual the Cobras will be produced in the spring of 05.

I do not know about the Lightning. I think the 03 will have the same body style with a 3 valve per cylinder head with the old body style. I believe in the summer of 03 the new body style for 04 will be introduced and in December of 04 the new Lightning.

However everything I have just said is speculation from previous posts some of which seem valid.

When you guys say 5.0, do you mean the 302? That's a 4.9 isn't it? A true 5.0 liter is actually 305 cubic inches no?

 

Isn't the 5.0 dead? I'm with ICULOKN, I think it's history.

Hey guys, Arizonahd means 5.0L Modular motor. I don't think Ford is going to change the cobra engine for 04. They just spent some $$$ to develope the 03. They need a little time to start getting some cash back before making changes to the engine.

They had to pass emissions certification with the current engine. Changing it to a 5.0L for 04 would cost more cash to develope and get certification. It will be a few years before they make a change to the motor!
