Man, I would never challenge a BUSA! I have seen them rip up our 1/4 mile too many times--just awesome.

There is a guy from Macon that hauls his BUSA behind a beautiful, red 01 L. He has run both down the strip but concentrates on his Busa. Very impressive outfit.

Dude if I see you around town.......

and you throw me a rev I just want you to know, I smart enough to know that it would be a waste of my guess to run you. You will get a wave as you tear off the line and I just ease on down the road.

I am here in Nashville also drive a White 2001. Nice bike by the way. I have a buddy who has a mid grade Ducatti that I would like to find a deserted area to run him in a straight line just to see how bad he would spank me. One day if we can find a nice safe spot I will give it a try.

Enjoy the bike but be safe, there's a lot of people down here and I don't wanna read about you becoming road pizza or taking out a nun or something.

Actually I think a Hyabusa is a falcon of some sort (in Japanese of course)

Rice is Rice; two wheels or four.

I ride a Ducati; World Superbike Champion. busa's are a dime a dozen. I've ridden one a fair amount and they are very fast. They are also "sterile" and lack alot in the handling department when in the twisties.

Busa's own Ducati's. Ducati's handle nice, but engines are for ****. People that want to think they are important buy them =p.

Not that i could afford a Ducati anyways =p. I had a new R6 last year, nice smaller bike to learn on. After riding it for a few days at a time the L seemed huge as hell, and yes slow heh.

It is a totally different type of speed as he mentioned. Nothing like flying down the expressway on a bike.

Its been my experience that punks that can't ride; don't wear helmets and make payments on a $6000 bike ride rice. Buying an R6 to learn on tells me alot. Why don't you start in the dirt so the only person you'll hurt is yourself.

Engines are *****??? I guess that's why they have won 4 out of the last 5 World Superbike Championships. You want to just put gas in the tank and ride then enjoy your rice that you see on every corner. If you enjoy the finer things in life; tuning and working on motors; and are a true enthusiast then get a bike with some personality and racing heritage.

I'll bet you've never been on a Duc and certainly never ran with someone that can ride.

Good luck with your rice and Kerker 4 into 1 that sounds like a sewing machine with nasal drip.

Comparing a Busa with a Duc is isn't a good comparison. The dealer I bought my bike at is a Duc/Suzuki dealer. I actually went to look at the Ducati's when I ended up buying the Busa.

There is no comparison in handling and braking on the ducs. Even an old 900 paso will out handle a Busa. We won't even get into the incredible sound of the Ducs.

I have ridden 4 Ducs and they are all great bikes. I bought the busa with sport touring in mind. Yes the handling isnt world class. If I didnt plan on touring with the old lady on the back (YES I HAVE LUGGAGE FOR THE BUSA)I would have for sure plopped the extra $3k down on a 996 (they had 4 2000 left over Duc's when I was shopping).

Also, I think we should save the word rice for the morons who take a civic paint it some god aweful color, add huge spoilers, neon, a maxwell can exhaust and a type R sticker and think they have something special.

As for the Busa's being a dime a dozen....I can guarantee its just as easy to go to the dealer and buy a Duc as it is to buy a Busa. One other deciding factor for me not buying the Duc was the tales of horrid warranty service, long waits on parts, and the small number of dealers in the US.

Fair enough.

I have had zero problems with the Ducati's I own or have owned. Alot of that is probably because I keep them well-prepared and maintained properly. Not everyone's cup of tea.

Actually for a Japanese bike I kinda like the Busa but have never been able to get past the bodywork and paint scheme....just my tastes.

The key to a Ducati is having a good dealer. We are lucky here in KC because our dealer only does Ducati, Cagiva, MV Augusta , Husky, KTM etc. It has been my experience that dealers that sell Ducati's and Japanese bikes don't give the Ducs their full attention because they sell 20-30 Japanese bikes for every Duc.

..."never race a busa"... SHYEAH.

On the Ninja list, we call them "Eye Abusers"

As for me - my '90 ZX11 (at one time it *WAS* 1100 cc's)
she puts out over 160 at the wheel, about 90 foot pounds of tq... Admittedly, I'm in need of a valve job & some rings, as those numbers are with 10 - 12% leakdown, but nevertheless damn good on a 12 year old ride

Of course, I guarantee 1BB has definitely had an easier time making that amount of power than I have...
Glad there's another nut case like me on here 1BB ...

Now, who here has run 13 seconds in their Lightning WITH your 9 second motorcycle strapped in the bed

Actually i paid cash for my R6, thanks for your concern though.

Duc's are great for handling, but as you say if you want a bike you can get on and ride and not mess with the jap bikes beat them hand's down daily.

It was a joke, sorry you missed the humor. I am sure it looks nice next to your BMW and Lexus.

I would buy a dirt bike but not really many places in my area i could ride one.

And i would never ride without a helmet, i love my Arai Haga helmet, everyone should spend a bit more on a helmet that fits right and feels good.

Everybody has there own tastes and needs for their toys, some like working on them and some like riding them. I ride a 929,and take it for what you will, I tore my fair share of carbs apart to "tune" them. Why not let the machine do the work, fuel injection is great and I'd rather be riding!! I wave at Ducs, classics, cruisers or Harleys because they are having as much fun(in there own way) as me! my$.02 Ride safe, keep the rubber side down, and ride in the dirt to learn how to ride!

Need:

What is it with you Ducati guys? Are you normally a cool guy, or a smug Italian biker? I just don't get it. Truth is, Ducati's are overwieght and underpowered in their stock config. Frankly, a very much so "ricer" Rc-51 handed Ducati their *** last year, if I remember correctly. Ridden by a very capable Texan. Now, if that Reading Califonian was on anything but a Duc....

I have yet to see Ducati do much of anything AMA, F-USA or anything in this country, much less at my local events of the AFM and WSMC. Truth be told, Duc's are great machines, but most their riders think that owning a machine that has won more world titles overall makes them a "world class rider". Frankly, I've had TZ's and old GSX-R600's show me the fast way round. But never, do I recall a Duc owner taking their machine and throwing it up the inside (unless the did so while on their cases). All show...no go. Maybe (hopefully) you are a different breed. If you are, don't hang out with the Ducati Bretheren (whisper: they can't ride).

Bust on the guy with the R6 all you want, but chances are, he's gonna hand you your *** at the track, and the guy with the crappy 91 ZX-7, will hand him his ***!

There's no reason to get elitist about bikes here. Ducati motors are MAGIC! Might have wanted to explain the 998R motor to the R6 guy, but calling him an undercapitalized squid sounds a little harsh. Ducati suspensions stock are Great. But don't think we can't get a revalve and rear Ohlins or Penske and have something better. I'd take any bet you want that my 51' or my G-1K would hand a 996 it's ***. That's based on the fact that most the guys in my way, taking stupid lines, weaving to cut me off, or in the dirt cause the hammered the fronts and stood their rides up....are Ducati riders. And most of these guys cause a good practice session to pause. I hate COLD tires!!!

Now that is a stereotype

Safe riding to all !!
