Question Any reason to keep stock plugs? (& mod pics)

Especially if they look like they're still in good condition? Basically all of the stock plugs looked like the samples pictured here.

FlashSVT paid a visit to Oregon City this weekend and 'helped' (basically did) change my stock spark plugs to NGK TR6's. On each plug 'we' (he) pulled, we were pleasantly surprised that they all were in good shape.

After the plugs, I got a chance to install 2 appearance mods that have been kicking around for a while.

Overall it was a fun weekend for me! Thanks again Flash!

The stock plugs stink. I pulled mine, they weren't in that horrible shape but I like the way the engine runs so much more with the NGK's.

Always a pleasure Spoon. No real need to keep the stockers. You'll never want to put them back in.

It was an hour and a half well spent.

There is some good plug info if you are ever interested:

http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/techinf.../faq/index.asp

Even a section that tells you how to read the plugs.

See ya . . .

Watch out for Flash--I hear he's got a new mod--said to add 40-50 rwhp and 65 rwtq! Maybe he'll tell you about--after he finishes polishing it .

SpoonDog:

I forgot this when posting earlier. My stock plugs looked similar(after 18,000 miles) to yours that is, until I looked at them under a lighted magnifying glass. The platinum 'pad' located under the ground electrode(right above the center electrode) was worn away. I could see a little of it on some of them but for the most part, they were worn away. See if your 'pads' are still there.

Thumbs up

Lightninrod- Thanks for the tip! Yes, the platinum pad is still there, on all of them.

Like I said, both Flash and I were surprised they came out so well, but I'm not going to argue with it.

Hey Spoon. Dan's talking about the little disc shaped pad on the underside of the ground electrode. It's pretty hard to see and not visable in your photos. I checked a few and they still had them. Take a peek for yourself. =)

Okay, color me "not knowing what the heck I'm talking about" again. I tried to check the undersides of the electrode, but I can't quite tell...

Anyway, it seems the consensus is to just trasht the plugs, or donate them to the Industrial Mechanics program at the high school.

Thanks you guys!
