Question Lightning Videos?

I would like to start putting videos of my L, and others up on the internet, where is the best place to host them? I have yet to buy the software yet also(waiting to hear if there is a good place to put my videos with little to no cost, and with little to no trouble), so any suggestions on software would be great too! (I have a Sony Digital 8 cam, and a HP computer if that helps.)

Thanks in advance.

i host all my pics and videos and stuff on my own server, but my cousin owns a isp. you dont need to buy any software, windows has everything you need built in (ftp, telnet)

Get a web host with LOTS OF SPACE and LOTS OF BANDwidth.

Hosting popular Movies are a good way to get run off from many hosts.. The bandwidth they use can be real excessive and expensive.

The software you use depends on what you are trying to do with them. I have converted 8mm analog tape to mpg and real media using Uleads software that came with the TV tuner card I have.

You will need a BIG hard drive to do any serious editing since most windows programs store the raw footage as avi files and a few minutes of full screen avi can be a gig or more...

So lets see.

1) Fast Computer
2) Good video card
3) BIG hard drive
4) Web host with lots of space and lots of bandwidth
5) Video editing software - convert to mpeg and add titles etc
6) lots of time - Rendering files takes time

Did I miss anything ??

I am likely going to take most of my 60+ movies down because they are to expensive and too much trouble even though they are VERY popular.

oh yea, i didnt realize that he didnt already have them in mpeg or similar format.

the best bet for free hosting is if you or a good friend works for a company with major internet bandwidth and you can sneak a page in there on a machine where no one will notice the bandwidth its using, lol

Well, i have 1,3 & 5 I guess all I need is 2 & 4.

I'll go talk to my local Best Buys, or Comp USA guys sometime this week and see what software the suggest. Another question is, there was a member nice enough to offer to host my vids, and I was curious who is the best online service carrier to send big files to him? I know AOL has a limit, I'm just not sure how much. I know the point of making vids for the web is to get them as small as possible, but just in case AOL can't handle sending it, do you suggest anyone?

If the files are truley big hopefully you can FTP them to him or directly to the host...

I would wait on the viedeo card till you have worked with movies a while. You can get along with any decent video card...

Also would be careful where you post the vids, there are enough people on some of these boards to KILL a ISP if you post something cool =) TRUST ME, i used to host one place, athat had a T1 and about 4 business sites on it...yeah i posted something on corral.net and BAM pegged that T1 out for an hour and shut down the server!!! Anyways lesson learned and now i colocate at a ISP with some SERIOUS pipes....

Good luck
