Factory exhaust tip chroming?
SNoopy, not sure, but from what i was told it won't 'stick' or adhere to SS. I got that response from all teh shops here, so i can't believe all of them were wrong. But hey if someone can find a place to do them and make them last ill be the first to sign up.

Magnaflow Tips
The slash cut magnaflow tips are cut at 15 degrees. If my measurements are correct our tips are at 30 degrees. Maybe I'm too picky but the cuts aren't going to be parallel with the line of the trim. Of course they could be re-cut and polished.

Mine were pretty cruddy looking. 1 tube Simichrome + 30 minutes elbow grease = sparkling tips. I don't know how long they'll stay this way, but they are pretty shiny now.

where do you get this Simichrome at??
The stock tips are mild steel and then individually ceramic coated. What really screws them up is that the tie bar is pus welded (mig) on after the ceramic process. At best this was a poor decision and a cost saving measure from the original design intent. Go back and find some early 1999 Lightning literature and you will see reference to stainless steel exhaust tips. Additionally, stainless steel can be chrome plated. It is usually done to create a uniform finish when used with other chrome trim. The 300 series of stainless has brilliance, which is far better then chrome.
