Suspension:
Hotchkis springs, although I don't think it's the same that they're selling,
Panhard bar (modified bracket)
Custom shocks - this was the BEST money spent on the truck yet.

Brakes:
DOT 4 fluid on the track (stock Ford fluid on the street)
Ruslows slotted and dimpled rotors, Hawk pads

Engine:
Different air filter and a small amount of sound insulation in the engine bay.

Tires and wheels:
BFG's GForce TA tires on stock wheels.

Upcoming mods:
I ordered Ruslow's Big brake kit because Laguna Seca abused these brakes. Once the brakes got hot, the fluid boiled and it made stopping interesting.
Battery relocation (rear passenger side) if I get the energy or have someone do it.
SS brake lines, brake cooling duct and DOT 5 fluid.
Harness bar, 6 point harness, custom seat brackets and two racing seats (I'll probably use the seats from my jeep). Before each track event, I'll remove the stock seats and bolt in the harness bar, 6 point and racing seats. This should also help with the front/rear wt distribution.
Although I already mentioned the brakes, I'll only run those on track (it's a quick swap).
Additional tranny cooler with fan.

Spike

BTW, I also rode in a Lightning at a track event that had the PSP/FactoryTech valve body. It helps but mainly with keeping the tranny cooler.

Joe,

Just had an idea. Since you're in the process of putting your Lightning back together, if you are able to join us at one of the next track events, you might get some ideas on different mods and which ones help the overall performance of the truck. Even though you'd only be riding in the cars as passenger, it's still a thrill. Plus the events are fun and you'll meet a lot a good people.

Id love to go to some track events. Depending on what the event is I dont know if I can even ride with anyone. Dont you have to be 16 to be a passenger in any on track event? Anyway...Just tell me when and where and if its possible for me to ride and if I can be there I will.

thanks for the offer

Spike, I was wondering if you could shoot me an email with some info on the Seca races, I'm in the vicinity of you guys and would LOVE to go, I also have a lot of friends who would be thrilled to roll. Thanks!

They're not races but private track rentals for HP driving/instruction. For instance, an upcoming event will have in car instruction for everyone. Some of the events are posted at NLOC.net and other are private. There are also some that we don't post any info (until afterwards). Yet, I'll send you an email when I get confirmation for the upcoming events that will be worthwhile attending.
