Stereo question

My amp is cut off, with the protection light lit. About every ten or fifteen seconds it'll switch from protection to power, just for an instant, and the subs will hit. Then it goes back to protection.

Any ideas? Fried amp?

one of your subs could have fried.. thats what it sounds like to me.. try hooking up just one sub at a time.. good thing your amp has a protection mode..

also, check your wiring just to be safe.

hope this helps

A sub? I'll check that out. I had no idea a fried sub could make the amp go to protection.

Thanks Brooks.

i'd try replacing the fuse, and also rechecking the ground for the amp, thats what it sounds like to me

OK, let's start simple. Disconnect the output side,"speaker leads" & see if the amp stays online Ok. If yes, then check the speaker wires for a frayed or cut place before hooking them up again. Next check the subs individually as stated in a previous post. Good Luck.

Did you use the same gauge wire for power and ground? If not that could be it. Also, maybe your amp is getting to hot and going into protection because of that. Check to see that you have whatever the manual says for airspace around the amp for it to cool itself. Just some thoughts.

I disconnected the speakers one-by-one, then all together. The amp acted the same way, in protection. I can't find a problem with the wiring anywhere. Bill - yes, the kit came with the same gauge wire. I think the amp just died on me. It's going back tomorrow - the store said I can bring it back, no problem. Thanks for the suggestions guys!
