Is it possible to change PCM to save warranty

I have heard some talk on the board that you an get a new pcm with the coating on the contacts that you use to replace the one with the chip worn contacts when you take the truck in for service.
Has anybody actually done this, does it work, what is the procedure as far as getting it to match your keys and how much does it cost.
I guess only the dealer can do the pcm to keys matchup, is this something a dealer will do without geting suspicious, can you just go in with your keys, order one and walk out with it ready to go in the truck.

It can be done, but you will need a friend with a NGS tool and program the PCM for the PATS.

I was told to use a little rubber cement to get the look of the glue on the pcm to give it the stock look again..
This is one of the reasons I havent done any mods to truck yet. Still have 20,000 miles left on warrantee..
Well thats my 2 cents worth for now!!

Thumbs up

Yea, what BBQ said!

But 'round here it's the MAF's and the air intake boxes that get stolen most.

Rough neighborhood, man. . .rough.
