Question Remove tie downs for bedrug?

Did you guys just make a small cut with a razor blade, or did you remove the hooks when installing the bedrug? From the pictures I can't see the tie downs. Thanks guys.

Remove the hooks. Install Bedrug. Reinstall hooks. This makes for a much nicer install IMO.

Just had Bedrug installed along with Jason Lid. They removed the tie-downs and srewed them in over the rug. It looks great and is very clean. The installer said it was better then making a large cut in the bed rug. Good Luck

I removed my tie downs as well... that was probably the hardest part of the install.

Left mine in place and made small cuts in the bedrug to fit around each tie-down. Absolutely no problems.

anyone else leave them in? Seems like the majority took them out. I'm sure I will be lazy and not put them in right away. I never tie anything down anyway. Thanks for the replies, keep them coming.

I put mine back in over the top of the bedrug for all the reasons previously stated. You never know when you may want to strap something down to keep it from rolling around.

Once I got the bedrug in, i used a pretty fine punch to locate the screw holes. Took about an extra 3 minutes per tie-down.

I'd leave them in, cut slots and sew the edges with a velcro lip to keep it closed/hidden. This last week I had to remove the snug lid and tailgate to shed weight because I was toasting my brakes and boiling brake fluid. Subsequently, I had to remove the rug so it wouldn't fly out on the course. If I had bolted the hoops over the rug, it would have been more to remove with little time.

Just a thought.

Question

If you re-installed the tie-downs, I don't think the bedrug would come out even at the (insane) speed you are going...
