Question Intercooler Replaced Yesterday ???

Yesterday I got my Intercooler replaced. I got great service I got called in 4 hours saying my Lightning was ready. I got to meet the mechanic who worked on my Lightning he showed me the Intercooler that was replaced. The dealer even gave me a 4 door Focus for a loaner.

Question what is used for the Intercooler Reservoir??? Is it straight Anti-Freeze???

Thank you in advance, djy

Question

That's a good question.

I just got done with my 30k services and couldn't find out whether it was supposed to be straight coolant or a mix either.

My supplement doesn't say (for the intercooler), neither does the Chiltons manual.

I would think because of the corrosion issues that straight coolant would be best, but I don't think that 100% coolant transfers heat very efficiently.

I am gonna call SVT right now and post what they tell me. . .

OK,

I talked with Matt at SVT and he said we should fill them with a 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water.

He also instructed me (quite directly) to NOT use any additives in the intercooler fluid.

uh-huh.. thts what they are supposed to say..
redline water wetter does help a bit..

they (SVT) also said that the intercooler leak only happened in 1% of lightnings..

True.

Maybe I'll give it a try.

It's worked on every other vehicle I've had.

Thanks,
