Thumbs up Acetoned Emblems

The other day I saw a picture of an F-250 that did this to his emblems and I liked the way it looked so I thought I'd try it. Overall I thinks it looks pretty good, looks almost like billet to me.

Yeah, like FlashSVT said. I just bought a can of it a Wal-Mart for about four bucks. Then I taped off the emblems with masking tape and used a lot of Q tips and paper towels to clean all the black off around and in the letters. Not too hard, only took about an hour for all three of them.

That does look good. Personally, I'd like to just have all the letters without the extra black on them.

would this stuff hurt the paint if it touched it? It makes sence to tape it off, rather than take them off, but not if it could hurt the paint, right?

Thumbs up

I've had mine done for a while. You don't want acetone on your paint, believe me! If you tape carefully, and don't go wild your paint will be fine. I guess you could buy a new set and do them before you put them on, if you wanted to. I stripped mine, then painted the letters black. Complete reverse of factory. Looks good to me.,,,,,98

First, the tailgate emblem.

Thumbs up And the fenders.........

I'm going to get some Triton tags, and non-XLT emblems for the side emblems. I will paint them to match the tailgate.,,,,,98

You also have to use LOTS of Q-tips and take it very slow. I also recommend putting some carwax around the emblem to help protect the paint before applying the masking tape.
