Supercharger/Blower

What is the difference between a supercharger and a blower? Are they the same thing?

Want to be more confused? If you get in to the industrial world (I'm on a ship) they even call turbo chargers, superchargers. A turbo is nothing but an exhaust gas driven centrifugal supercharger. Any kind of air pump, or device to pressure feed the intake of an engine is "supercharged." Do you have a two stroke outboard? That is supercharged also. A two stroke cant devlop sufficiant vaccuum like a fourstroke to "suck" in air. It uses the piston action and pressure under the crankcase to force air into the cylinder and promote proper scavanging. So, a roots, lobe, gear, centrifugal, or exhaust gas type super charger or blower is just a different style of pressure feeding more air into your intake! Don't mean to come off as a know it all, I just get off on this crap, and work with five foot diameter triple turbo's on a 12,000 hp two stroke 8 cyl engine!
