Just read my new automobile mag and saw my next truck. The Dodge boys got it right this time. Turns out they're putting the 500 hp 500 lb-ft new Viper engine with 6-SPEED!!! into a regular cab next year. It was a good rein, Lightning. And to think I was going to settle for a measly extra intake valve. Anything called "sport" without a manual transmission isn't. I do thank Ford for standing alone and upping the anty for these past few years. I always thought that 380 hp for a OHC 5.5 L supercharged V-8 is pretty weak, however, it was the only game in town. turn key. Don't think my 4-way and pulley will do it, and it will void the warrenty. Shouldn't the specs be somewhere around 450 hp while retaining hi torque at midrange? I think so.

I could barelly , and I mean barelly, pull away from a new CL600 from a rolling start, and I don't call these heavy weight tourers scorchers.

Don't get me wrong I love these trucks, just think they fell a little short thats all.

 

Then hop on down to your Dodge store and buy one.

PS, if you dislike your truck so much...... why did you buy it? Sorry, just curious.

seems to me that this truck( lightning) that fell short for your expectations, must have have grabbed your attention. why would you by anything that you know doesnt meet your expectations? especially a 30K item? sounds you like to bandwagon on anything, so i guess when and if chevy/ or dodge brings out anything close to the L you will exchange your L for it. well then i guess you should, you dont deserve the L anyways. good luck with your dodge and i hope you like the Lightning rear bumpers, cause thats all you see.

Spend 15k on your Lightning and it will be faster and likely cheaper than the Dodge... If the Dodge ever makes it to the end of the assembly line
If it is like the Viper it will be temperamental, uncomfortable to sit in, cramped, and overpriced

I'll keep an eye out for your new ride. The old saying is speed costs, how fast do you want to go? I think you will pay almost double the cost of an L for it. What color are you shooting for?

I live next door in Agoura, where do you find any room to run around here? This place is so crime free, the cops are bored and looking for the first person to go 5 over the speed limit. Photo radar etc. Hell, one guy made an effort to make a big U-turn and chased me down like I robbed a bank, my plain jane Expy had one headlight out. WOW, now there is a slow crime day if I ever saw one.

Dodge is a 3rd class car maker that always is behind the competition. Wait, Did I hear always playing catch up to the Big two auto makers.

Dodge had to use a viper engine with a V-10 to get close to as fast as our L's, time for you Dodge lovers to cruise the Dodge Viper forum and get off here... Wait, Ford has a V-10, maybe we'll put a Eaton on top, Maybe the engine in the new 03 L..

5.4 vs 8.3 hmmm I wonder whcih will be faster you dufus. Remember it isnt always about straight line speed. Lightning is better overall and uses less gas as well. Wait till the Gen III's come out. BTW Id rather drive a slow Ford than a stupid fast dodge. Oh yeah ,dont you think Ford(#1 selling company with most sales) cant make a car faster than Dodge? Please. Just cant wait to see how much more the Chrysler stock will fall next year and how many more employees they will fire.

 

Hmmm, that makes a lot of sense. Dodge can't sell their POS truck @ $20,000, but they think that the hillbillies and high school kids that DO actually buy their garbage trucks are gonna be able to save up enough beer cans and money from their Taco Bell checks to go buy one that costs TWICE as much???

I have YET to see ANY DODGE Truck that could be classified as "Fast"...except maybe to the gas pump.

Might be showing my age, but I can still remember street racing some 35 years ago and gleefully watching a 327/250 Chevy II beating the crap out of a 426 Wedge, both stock. It was fun then (I was a chevy guy then) and it's still fun!!!
