Lost My Nuts

transplanting mirros today and i did the unthinkable,, dropped a nut inside of the door. Of the three nuts to drop into the door,,, i happened to drop the one closest to the inside of the truck,,, which means not only is it inside of the door, but its stuck in some sort of metal chute,,, i can't find it anywhere in there, i even tried dropping the other nuts down there to see where they went, i ended up finding those but still not the one that i dropped first,, this is really pissing me off,, makes me want to take whole door off and shake it upside down,,,, i would have even done that already if i had the right tool to take off the torx looking screws that connect to it. This is all pissing me off, even tried taking a magnet to it to see if i could find it, i am not going to put this truck back together without finding the nut either, i just can't live knowing that there might be a nut stuck in my door rattling around. sorry guys,, just had to vent, didn't care about right punctuation or any of that for this post.

Toast,
instead of taking the door off why not just roll the truck over and get your nut out that way??? ....or SOMETHING......JR

by the way, you most definately won't find it if you're sitting here....

this really is terrible tooo,,, i think i'll have to call my girlfriend over tomorrow,, she's got small girl hands and could probably reach in there to find it. I thought i owned every bit possible for working on cars, but it seems like everytime i take the truck under the knife i find something i dont have yet. plus, maybe its just me, but i always seem to end up doing stupid stuff like this,, the actual install is never a problem, i just always either lose something important, drop something that i can't get at, I'M TALL AND MY HANDS ARE BIG AND IT SUCKS BIG TIME i wish i was a shart japanese person who could go reach into anything, or maybe if i had a pet monkey,,,,, hmmm,, no ,,, i dont think monkeys have thumbs,

Yea i did that when i was putting on my street scene mirrors. Dropped it right down into the corner near the speaker. I just got a strong spotlight(yea i did this at night too) and took a wire clothes hanger, bent it apart and just dragged the bolt to the other end of the door so i could reach down the opening and get it.

well,, just checked again before i hit the hay for the night, it would so much help if i could just at least see where it was, i dont even hear it when i shake the door. I think this is the most frustrating thing that can happen when your just doing something simple, plus now my hands hurt from trying to cram them in there every which way to see if i can feel it anywhere hopefully tomorrow i'll get to it right away,, its just a bad feeling to know that i have a nut stuck in my door somewhere

extension magnet sounds promising,,, i think i'll have to figure out where it is first though.

Are you absolutely sure it's still in the door? Perhaps it fell out? That speaker magnet suggestion was very good also!

Like 00BlackLightning said, I'm thinking speaker magnet too. It sure wouldn't rattle. Good luck ~Toast.
