jl stage 1 ram air vs. daily driver
i just bought a jl stage one ram air kit and am wondering if it is ok for a lightning that i use for my daily driver?
also i have not put it on my truck yet, but is there any way that i can make it fit behind the lower grill. it was a very rainy day today and i went through some pretty deeeeep puddles and i am worried that the ram air scoop will suck up water?
help me out guys

You can drive the thing thorugh the deepest puddle and it will not make it up the pipe. You will be fine with it.. I even did some testing for JL with the 3/4 drop kit I have and it does not come up the pipe at all....

Yep, A few friends with Hondas have went thorugh it will their cold air kits. Trust me, Unless you sitt with it submerged and rev it up i seriously doubt it will suck up water....

its not an totally enclosed system it draws the air from the sides of the filter too so even if we submeege the scoop it will draw the air from the sides of the filter and won't suck the water up...

It is impossible for water to travel up that pipe, and be sucked into the throttle body. I'm not going to get into the laws of physics here, but trust me on this guys, " it just ain't gonna happen".

JL's Ram Air was installed at 3,000 miles on my daily driver. My L has had an open filter with a NACA-type duct mounted behind the bumper since then. We just went thru two days of rain--3" total. No water injestation. Btw, get(from JL) the Outerwear 'cover' for your 12" filter--it keeps the filter clean longer but makes no measureable reduction in air flow. The Ram Air/Fast Air systems work--water cannot reach the filter much less the eng. intake.

One of the only ways water is going to be injested into the engine with the JL or PSP unit is to hit a DEEEP puddle at a HIGH rate of speed or drive into a large body of water...
they are not closed systems.
Think of it this way. try to drink using a straw with your mouth open...
