Looking to replace my mirrors with the color keyed, signal ones- Are they the same size, '99-01 (or '02 now)? Also, do they come painted or do you have to get it done?

They are the same size and came painted.

Where did you get yours from i tryed www.fordpartsonline.com and they said that they dont come painted. Any info would be great thanks.

I've been contemplating this mod, but I can't justify the cost of replacing the entire mirror. I thought about just buying the cover that has the signal light built in, and then making my own wiring harness. Anyone know how hard that would be? I was quoted ~$40 for each mirror cover, as opposed to $300 for the entire mirror.

Not hard at all-- you would need to run the wires to the inside of the door and plug into the factory harness, MY 2000, not sure of 1999. The $300 a mirror seems high, I paid half of that for both full mirrors!

i have just now dealt with this. I have an 01 with a broken side view mirror along with the broken cover that goes with it. and i absolutely agree they are both way over priced. you do have to get the cover painted,, it'l run you about 16 bucks including labor and stuff for the dealer to do it. $300 a mirror does sound like a ton though, I'm about to check right now and see if they are the same size, i have found a pair of 00's and will let you know tonight if they work out. I should be able to answer any questions you have about this mod too considering i'm going through the whole mirror process right now.
