Question's on battery disconect

Have a few questions. When running cable from battery to disconect to starter, 1. Do you need to tie into wire that goes into the solinoid then to starter or????????
Also do you need a vent tube in the battery box?

Thanks for any info?
Brandon

You need to hook the disconnect switch in series from the positive of the battery to the starter solenoid on the firewall. The idea is to break the curcuit so nothing is powered up when they flip the switch. Also, on our trucks, you need to run a second wire to the switch, that kills the main alternator feed back to the battery because even with the positive disconnected from the battery, with the motor running, the alternator will keep the truck powered up.
