Question Sound proofing

I will be adding a sound system to my L when it arrives, and I was wondering if any of you guys here have used the sound proofing material. I don't remember what it's called. But I was told that it does wonders for improving the quality of the system in vehicles. Is ther any proof to this? And what is it called?

There's a variety of them out there. I used a mixture of Dynamat standard pretty much everywhere, and then used the extreme stuff in speaker locations, underneath the subwoofer and against the rear wall of the sc, and in and around the component kick panels I have installed.
I recently did most of the floor with the standard dynamat to reduce road noise. Did the trick nicely!

raammat is the big name in cheap sound damping material these days. It is similar to dynamat extreme but is around a buck a foot instead of 3-5. Search for the seller 'raam' on ebay

I put down 2 layers of Original B-quiet on the floor, 1 on the doors, and one on the back wall. I will be going back with a layer of B-quiet Brown bread.

Take down your headliner and see all the pretty metal skin. I did my roof and it made a big difference. I am an ex installer and I can tell you that it does make a big BIG difference. It is not cheap to do but you will quiet things up a bit and every db that you quiet you truck is 1 db louder you stereo is. I have not cared for the spray stuff nothing works like dynamat IMO. just about any of the otherbrands are just as good I have always used the Dynamat though.

One time I had a car I was doing and I had Dynamated everything in it. The funny thing was that the car was so quiet inside that when you drove the sound of the wind going around the windows seemed really loud. It was always there but you never nioticed it until I made eveything else so quiet.

You Pay For The Dynamat Name

I used Dynamat throughout but don't think it was worth what I paid for it and I got a discount. Here's a link to B-Quiet http://www.b-quiet.com/

I think you'll find the Dynomat conforms better than the other brands. Some are not very flexible and are quite brittle.

*CAUTION:
If you close off the large rear vent holes in the cab, you might want to turn off the pass. side air bag in case of an accident. It's almost air tight.

Like I said I have always used Dynamat. I have always been happy with it. I don't stray away from something that works for me.

Go to McMaster

Product #9709T19

Adhesive-Back Damping Sheet Polymeric Mastic,.070" Thk,.7 Lbs/SF, 32" X 54", Black
$ 12.79 Each

This stuff is the SAME as original Dynamat without the expensive logo they tack on.

I remember getting over twice as much for the same price a year or so ago.

There's really no reason to buy original Dynamat unless you like wasting your money.

markc,

Try PN #9709T19

It's $12.79 for a 32"x54" piece of Hi-Temp Mastic, .7 lbs/sq. ft. I've put 5 sheets in mine so far (yet to do the roof) and it's made a VERY NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE.

Talking

markc,

I was saying "try taking a look at this one". I "think" the first one you noted is very similar to the original Dynomat. The one I posted it something a little heavier and more"dead" than the one you posted.
