1.) Filter (PSP, JL, or JDM)
2.) Chip (PSP, JL, or JDM)
3.) Pulley (2#, 4#, or 6# by PSP, JL, or JDM)

You choose for your self which tuner you would like to spend your money with.

Best Bang for the Buck...

1-Chip-The heart of it all
2-Pulley or NOS-The real way to add power
3-Filter- A cool way to make the blower louder & help get more air!

Here are tuners with their websites..

JLP (Johnny) - www.johnnylightningperf.com

PSP (Sal) - www.powersurgeperformance.net

LFP (Mark) - www.lightningforceperformance.com

JDM (Jim) - www.teamjdm.com

1. Shocks
2. Brakes
3. Suspension

Braking and cornering power is more fun than added horsepower.

Spike

By the way, there is another tuner:Swanson Performance

OK.....should I have the air installed before the chip. My thinking is that with the chip, the truck will run hotter, needing an air flow system in place. Am i wrong, will the factory filter be ok for the time being?

Either way will work, The 01's stock Air Setup is decent. I like the Chip as my fav. mod. You wont gain much from a filter alone....

If it was all power:
1. Chip - flip chip = 2 programs (street and race)
2. Air Filter Kit - I would go ahead and get one of the ram air setups from JL or PSP b/c of the added heat sheild and 2 ram air tubes
3. Throttle body - much better throttle response, and perhaps a few hp (BABolt claims around 12?)
*4. Muffler - stock is too quiet

If I had one, I would probably recomend a 2lb pulley - a pulley/chip/filter will get you in the 12's easy. It's my goal to get there without added boost though.

Handling Performance/looks/sound :
1. Drop shackles and/or a full suspension kit from Hotchkis, Belltech, Eibach, or Ground Force - improve look, handling, and lower your center of gravity. And in the case of just the shackles ($50) - I have heard better traction.
2. MT ET Streets for traction at the track. Allows midly modded L's to just plain hammer it off the line and take off
3. Tinting, stainless exhaust tips, wet okoles, etc
4. Sound system - stock sucks

I would recommend JDM, LightningForce, JL, and PSP as I have either had business with them or have heard great things about them. Their links were provided by ICULOKN

I'm with Spike Engineering on this topic.

I like straight-out acceleration as much as the next guy, but I found that the O.E. suspension, awesome as it is, needs help real quick when you add even modest amounts of power- especially the '99's.

Lower the truck, then step up the shocks and brakes.

Then I would probably add the chip (more for the transmission control than the power increase). All the major tuners like JL & PSP make really good chips.

Then who knows. . .you may enjoy driving it so much more that you may not want/need to pump the power level up.

I originally intended on chipping & pullying my truck to high hell, but after lowering it and addressing the brakes/transmission shifting issues, I really didn't want or need more power.
