I know this has come up before, but the search function isn't working on the boards right now and I need to try to find an answer quickly.

My buddy recently installed a chip in his '01 L. He said that today he was driving on the freeway and his motor started bogging, the speedo was stuck at 60, but the engine just cut out. The overdrive light started flashing and apparently he lost all power and his motor shut off.

I think other people have run into this problem and I'm just wondering what they did to fix it.

We're going to pull the chip and clean it and reinstall and run his truck on a autotap to check the codes, but if anyone has had this problem and knows what causes it and how to (hopefully) fix it it would be a great help.

The OD light flashing normally means there is an electrical fault with the trans, but in this case, it sounds like a chip contact issue. Re-clean the PCM, make sure you have all the silicone goo removed..
