Nitto Drs for Lightnings?
Nitto Drs for Lightnings?
I remember reading about them a while back. Has anybody here seen them? My friends speed shop got some in and he offered them to me.
Should I go for them? Size is 305-45-18

Are you serious? Do they really hook up that good? I have a set of 18 inch wheels and need some slicks. If these Drag Radials do that well, well it looks like that's what I need and I won't have to buy a set of 16 inch wheels.
Thanks,

Nitto's
I thought they made a tire in the correct size for the factory Lightning wheels, 295 / 45 / 18.....
Didn't I see that tire in the right size?
I've seen a few guys talk about the 305's and wondered if someone could tell me exactly what is it that Nitto offers for L's....

I saw some Nitto's on a Lightning last Saturday at Ennis. Those things look mean!! I don't know if it was anyone on this board, but he told me he was running 12.8 on the nittos and only a 4# pulley, chip, filter kit if I remember correctly. I was impressed with the looks of the tires on the truck, and I think they were the 305's.

The nitto 555R's only come in a 295/45/18 inch tire. Nitto has ther tires that come in a 305 size but there not the top of the line Drag radials. The nitto's are going to hook allot better then the F1's, there designed for that. But don't think your going to pull the front tires of the grond with these tires too. If you serious about drag racing, then by a set of slicks and call it a day, not only are they cheaper but there better for traction.
bob did you get a 1.5 60 foot with those tires? I'm not sure if thats what your saying but if it is, BULL*****! Please verify.

555's vs 555r's
Gotta be careful here...
Nitto makes three different possible tires sizes that have been discussed on this board... (that I know of)...
There is the 505 Extreme Force.... Truck performance tire, in 305/55. Tread wear rating of 400.
Then there is the 555 Extreme ZR (notice it's not called a drag radial), 295/45, Tread wear rating 300.
And... the 555r Extreme Drag Radial, 305/45. Tread wear rating of 100.
BTW... the F1's have a tread wear rating of 200 I think... so in theory, the 555's would wear longer... this would ALSO imply less traction... but who REALLY knows...?
Personally I have the 505's, and the traction seems BETTER than the f1's... But you know I'm NOT biased or... something....

You were right with what you said. I hope I didn't offend you, sure didn't mean too. At first I thought you were saying that the 555 "R" would last longer than the F1's. But you didn't say 555R, you said 555's.
Sorry for the confusion.
