If you build a "super engine" for our L's, will it be more reliable down the road? I play on keeping my L for another 5 years and want to mod, but im afraid of stuff happening to it, so if I build up a "super engine" will it be reliable for 5 more years?

Fair price

I spent a year developing these types of parts for my motor. The price seems extremely fair. Verify labor hours my was quoted at 40 hours. If you take a shop rate of 65 bucks an hour you have $2600.00 in labor.Rods at $100.00 each/$800.00,new cylinder heads with good valves, port, springs etc $2500.00. Pistons $60.00ea/$480.00, misc type stuff $1000.00 etc etc. You are in the ball park just make sure that you are getting excellent workmanship for this money. Good motor builders don't come cheap! Otherwise, I got screwed. OUCH don't tell me if I did????

I made up my mind. I decided to go with the premier lightning expert (Sal) and have him ship the built engine to me in CA.... I just sent him an email asking him to charge me for a down payment

HPSteem- Thanks for the link - I checked out their website - very impressive.

Jay- I am already first in line for Sal's new blower...

Thanks guys,

Dave

Hey 38
You may not have gotten screwed on the heads. It was just a lot of money spent on old technology. In less then six month all of you breathing woes will be surpassed by a new head design. It’s not a 2 valve, it’s not a 4. If you read between the lines you know what’s in store. Same goes for the supercharger too if you wait a little longer you’ll see it’s improved too.

WCFM

I was not happy with the additional performance for all of the work that went into them thats for sure. I did however want to keep the stock cylinder heads for my project and not mess with the 4 valvers. If Ford or somebody else has something that is a direct bolt on replacement I am in. We are still making in the 800H.P. range at relatively low boost levels with the old stlye head not to bad. The 4 valver would have made at least another 250H.P. given every thing being equal. Keep me up to date with posts if something else better comes along, thanks, Chet

Photos of the twin

Once I get the truck back I will post some. The trans went KAPOW and is being fixed. I spent $2500.00 in parts to upgrade the torque limits of the stock trans. Ford racing is saying the trans is now goof for the 1000HP range. They actually eliminate some of the spragues etc. God only knows what I will break next!!!

Re: 1000HP range

you know you want to prove them wrong about the tranny.. BREAK IT! BREAK IT! LOL

are you running the stock block/pistons/rods? what about the intercooler radiator? just the stock one, or a bigger unit?

good luck!!
