Question 90mm Maf Questions

I was at this performance shop the other day talking to the guy behind the counter about upgrading my 2000 L to a 90mm maf unit. He told me that if I upgrade to the 90mm Ford unit out of a 2001 L I don't need to have my chip reburned. He also told me that if I use a Pro-M Maf I will have tuning problems. Is there any truth to this, I thought I had to have my chip reburned.
