400 Twin Turbo Blazer

I dont like GMC, but check out Motor Trend March issue.
They have a Chevy Trail Blz TWIN TURBO. doing 1/4 in 13
and 0-60 5.4. 400 hp/tr. What do you guys think ?
I am saving to buy a Lightning, but with Chevy producing these's numbers it makes you think twice.
Does anyone if Ford is planning to increase Lightning hp/tr numbers in 2003?
This Blz stock for stock will blow away a Explorer/Expedition and give a good run against Lightning.
Should I get the Blaz or wait to 03 for the L ?

Sounds like you already made your choice. Buy the Blazer and forget waiting.

It's $45 grand, do you really want to spend that much? I mean save up a little more and you get teh Z06 which is even nicer.

I have not made up my mind as of yet. I really want the Lightning but with more power from factory.
FORD need to start doing there homework.GMC hp/trq numbers are putting FORD to shame.

Also the TT BLAZER is not due 04 maybe. Hopefully by then
the Lightning will have more power.

Last I checked '01's and '02's were rated at 380 hp and 440 ft.-lbs. torque...hmmm it appears that the torque is already higher. And judging by the numbers that some of these trucks have put down on the dyno (anywhere from 340-355 hp) Ford is underrating them by a fair amount. Just figuring a conservative 15% drivetrain loss (just throwing out a figure for an automatic equipped vehicle so don't get all uppity about that number) then these trucks are realistically putting out around 410-420 hp. It would seem that the current Lightning's numbers exceed those of the twin turbo Trail Blazer for about $15-17K less. Buy the Chevy if you want but the only car from them that I have seen that is underrated is a 2002 Z06 (which probably has closer to 415-425 hp at the flywheel). Maybe it's me but a new Lightning with $15K in motor mods should reliably put down somewhere in the 600-700 hp range. Besides, horsepower and torque ratings don't mean jack on paper...

Im so glad I hate Chevy's. All they do is tease the idiot's that buy Chevy's.

Chevy will never build that Piece of crap.

Why would Chevy make a SUV thats fast when only women buy the gay a** things.

That's all we need, women in sub 14 sec SUV's cruzing around.

Leave it to Chevy.

Another thing, Would you want to drive that over 100mph.
(thought so)

To be honest, I think Chevy will build it. They need to start going on the edge like Ford does and I think that they are starting to do so. I don't think that it will come anywhere near flat 13's, but is should be a good 13.8-14.0 vehicle. Now, if chevy drops that engine in a s10 or Sonoma, I might be a little concerned.

I don't think so.

look at the SY/TY's. they where rated at 300HP and they made some quick passes as fast as 13.4's. That I've seen in person.

That trailblazer is allot more weight, but its another 100hp.

I would like to have one for a daily driver! I would really love for ford to come back out with the bronco! Anybody ever see that pic of the concept bronco lightning back in 99. It was sweet!

They ty's run an average of 14.2 with the 100 less hp. Thats why I would say a 13.8 or so with the extra weight and hp. I would definatley not give it anything less than a 13.5. If they do make it, I hope Ford makes the Thunder Expy and blows it away. I won't hold my breath for that!
