Visit to Ford dealer... Should I be pissed?

Ok, first off, I have a '00 silver L. When I bought it (new), the front bumper cover was pretty trashed underneath, but I got a GREAT deal on the truck, so I didn't complain. The paint on top of the cab just started cracking bad, so I took the truck in to get that fixed under warranty and get the bumper cover resprayed at the same time. They did a decent job with the paint, but now my bumper cover hangs down lower on one side than the other and there is a HUGE gap between the bumper cover and the grille shell now. It's WAY out of wack. So, that has me pissed off, but the story gets better... There has been a clunking noise at the front of the motor (which I had discovered was coming from the crank pulley). So, I had my dad call the dealer after the truck was painted (I didn't have the number handy) to tell them about the noise. They took the truck over to the service department to find the clunk and fix it. Well... Three days went by without a phone call (even after I was promised they would call on the second day whether they found anything or not). I was in the area and decided to stop in to see if the truck was finished. After waiting half an hour, my service advisor informed me that they hadn't been able to duplicate the noise. Now, mind you, I had already told them on the phone when the noise was occuring and what was causing it. You have to simply start the truck and, with your foot on the brake, put it in drive. Obviously they didn't listen to me or decided they wanted to go for a joyride because when I asked him to see the truck so I could show them what was wrong with it, he told me one of the mechanics was out driving it and that they had been every half hour or so the whole day. I was pretty pissed at this point and told him that there was no reason to even drive it. He told me he was told on the phone (by me, mind you) that you had to powerbrake the truck in first and then run it through the gears manually to duplicate the noise (I still don't know if he meant under WOT). I explained to him he was mistaken, but he insisted that's what I said. So, after a HALF HOUR, my truck comes back, but to the wrong door (it was supposed to be coming in the back). It turns out that the mechanic (an approximately 20 year old guy) had to drop his girlfriend off out front. WTF?! Now, the kid was spinning the tires coming into the garage, and when he parked he had a huge grin on his face and was bragging about his joyride before he realized that the service advisor and I were standing 20 feet from him. So, to make a long story short (I know, it's too long already), the advisor told me he heard the noise when the truck was pulling in (it's loud and plain as day), and I showed him what was causing it. So, they ordered the parts and I took the truck until they come in. I'm about fed up with this dealer and was just wondering if anyone thinks I am justified in being pissed and what actions I should take, if I should take any (I'm planning on at least making them fix the bumper cover)?

A few quick quesitons then my comments. # 1 was the techs girlfriend hot ? Because if she was there is a very good chance that she would have gotten right back in the truck with you! I have found that girls love lightnings. # 2 did she make the truck smell all nice and pretty. J K ok all joking aside I am a tech at a ford dealer and i think this is very unprofessional and you should take this to your dealers service manager or just never go back. Roadtesting is always the key in proper repairs but this sounds like more of a joyride. You said they were gone for and HOUR ? I would demand a full interior detail. Think about it and hour and his girlfriend gets out of the truck ??? hmmm Can you say DNA. I would reccomend that if you go back to this dealer you wait with the truck and keep all eyes on it. Good Luck

How to get the service you deserve

If they have abused your truck, call your lawyer, do not get into a
pissing contest with a unsatisfactory dealer, send them a letter
of intent and I am sure that will fix your problem! and the first letter
is free!

Reading that just set me through the roof! Punk took his woman out showing off in your truck. Get a black light and see if they didn't leave any traces of a ROMP in the truck! F#$&'n jerk!

I would call SVT and B.B.B.. I would also say the tread on the rear tires didn't look like that and the gas was way low. I would demand they pay for the truck to go to a detail shop of your choice.

Oh, and go after that little ****-ants job. How many other customers vehicles were/or will be treated like this in the hands of this disrespectful *****.

Don't leave that dealer without talking to the owner and getting compensated in some way. If you don't. Get the lawyer.

Dealers that have employees that behave in this manner embarasses Ford.

Ok guys, thanks for all the advice. I'm personally still extremely pissed off. I don't allow anyone (including my dad and g/f) to drive my truck and they just cruised it around all day like it was their own personal toy or something. I'm going back there tomorrow to raise some hell and hopefully get the bumper cover fixed. My rear tires were already pretty worn ( ), but judging from the trip meter they put (you'd better sit down)... 100 miles on it . I'll let you guys know what happens, but the whole dealership is more or less corrupt (except for 1 or 2 people). The most I'm hoping for is a fixed bumper cover, fixed clunking noise, and gas.

Thumbs down

You have more self-restraint than me. No excuse for what the mechanic did. New wheels, a good tank of gas, and a detail (from somewhere other than that place...) are in order from that dealer. Accept nothing less (or the monetary equivalent) or have your attorney give 'em a call...

I would stick my foot up their *** if they did that, they could have wrecked it! 100 miles is a LONG way.. I would go talk to the head honcho and tell him what's up. Demand what was wasted (gas, tires.. paint job, bumber thing, etc.) That is just plain bull sh!it.. there's no reason for some damn childish 20 year old to be drivin ur truck, let alone like a "DATE".. I would be one pissed off motha! Good luck!
