Just changed from stock to TR5's, big improvement

I know it has been covered MANY times, but just letting those know I had a substantial improvemt from the stock plugs to TR5's. I'm running JDM Flip Chip, Filter, Boost, Breather. Thanks again to all that responded to my post about the TR6's vs. TR5's. Todd

What were the thoughts on the TR6 vs. TR5 argument? I'm fixing to do my spark plugs as well and I see that NGK's website recommends the TR6's for our engine. Is the TR5 a cooler plug?

What kind of improvment did you notice? I'm having them put in next week.

I think the TR6's are cooler than TR5's?

Your either going to have to try them out yourself and see what you kike best or go with the crowd. I ran TR6 the cooler plug for a few weeks until they were all just about fouled out, I went to the TR5 and I am very happy. I am however just running a 3 pound pulley and I drive my truck every day, if your going to mod up more than this or going to run NOS I would recommend the TR6. I suggest what ever plug you pick look at them every few months and see if there ok and make sure none of them have losened up. Hope I helped some.

What is the NGK part number for the TR5's? Also, what gap did you set them to? Thanks

The stock # on the box of the TR5's is 2238. I am running JDM flip chip, filter, breather and boost bypass, with the stock pulley. I installed the TR6's first, gapped at .04 and I drove the truck for about 200 miles. It was pretty obvious to me I had lost some power. I installed the TR5's a few days ago, gapped them at .040 also, and felt the power return. My truck does idle smoother now. That's just my opinion. Good Luck. Todd

The tr6's feel a little cold to me. The idle seems to degrade after a few min. They do clean right up at the first Italian tune-up. (that's jump on it till the miss goes away)

Italian tune-up; that's great! Reminds me of the 1st rule of Italian driving, "What's behind you doesn't matter."
