Smoked an M5!
Smoked an M5!
I was on my way to my daily workout session when up ahead I noticed a new black M5. I know these things are fast stock running low 13's in the 1/4, but I said what the h*ll. I figured I'd race him to about 60 and see where I stood. I was sure he would race so I waited until he took off. He was about a car ahead of me and I was staying right with him until he shifted. This guy must not know how to shift because I flew by him then shut it off. I slowed down and let him pass me at a normal speed. At the next light he was ahead of me, I waited until he took off and then stomped it. Again stayed even with him. All of a sudden I see a puff of smoke from under his car and smell this burning odor. This occured as I was flying past him. I slowed down and noticed he waas tyying to pull off to the side. About half a block down the road, he pulled over. I realise this cars are pretty fast but this older guy (like me) couldn't have driven a Honda much less an M5. Anyway it appears it was an expensive race for him. Any ideas what may have happened to him?

Wow,
I've come across a few (~7-8) of the 2002 M5's and I've never had a secure win, something always happens to where it's really close.
Maybe your truck is stronger than my 390 RWHP one? Strange the difference between 350 RWHP and 390 is about 10% but I still have problems with these dudes.

StrikesTwice,
Not firing any comments, just been around long enought to see that this wasn't typical. Just like me beating z06's all the time.
I know I'm cheating them and They seem to be a typical racer, too easy to beat. Put me in the Z06 and no more BSing the Lightning it would be well beat. No need for excuses, dead, dead, dead. Our L's just aren't that fast for all out war, for a stock sleeper sure it gets nods for a win against a big merk, but come one guys, it's not really THAT quick.
I love my L but we all pick the best races to post and to race. Whom doesn't race this way?

weeeeeee.... here we go.
celltech, I see where you're coming from, but, like he said "I realise this cars are pretty fast but this older guy (like me) couldn't have driven a Honda much less an M5. " so there we have it, a rich guy who can't drive. Of course you get a pro behind the wheel, DIFFERENT STORY, but he still won.
As far as the z06 line goes, majority of the stock guys (from zo6vette.com) are running 12.5-12.8, you get a chip, filter, pullied L, and you have a pretty close competition, again depending on the driver.
So I see what your saying, but do you see what I'M saying?
p.s. thanks for keeping it civil! lol, you know out of hand things can get

Your still missing the main point we are driving trucks against cars that we are at least 1,000 lbs heavier and our trucks are as aerodynamic as a brick. So i think that our trucks are pretty damn fast ,to keep up or if not beat any sports car thats double the price and weighs less, with just simple bolt ons. Main thing to remeber truck vs a car.

well said BadAzz516,
Yes camero ss, vettes, m3, m5 are fast cars. but there are faster lightning out there with just
a few bolt-ons.(no matter who the drivers are)
(i am aware that car/driver error plays a role in many races, i don't personal count those)
my point is ----
yes it is a 5000 lb TRUCK, and it is supercharged and it has bolt-ons and
if you get beat (deal with it).
