Question Key Pad Mod on 2001 Lightning

Search function is down, so I am asking if anyone has done this mod on a 2001L. If so, what parts (and part numbers) were required? I think that the harness is in the door and I just need the harness from the key pad to the one in the door. I am correct? Did the key pad handle come painted? And any time saving tips learned from your install would help.

Thanks

When I traded my 00 for the 01, the swap was exactly the same. All I needed to get was the black handle since I went from red to black L. You do have the harness in the door. No problem. Sorry, no part numbers.

Ford part # SPO XL1Z7822405BAH
Ford part # SPO YL3Z14A626AA
They come painted. These were for a black truck. Don't know
if different colors have different part #'s. All the wiring is in the door. Just plug it in and you are set. Very easy install.

I did the mod to my truck and it was a breeze to do. On the harness attached to the keypad there is 2 white press-in retainers that hold the harness up to the door. Look up in the door reinforcment bar that runs across the door for 2 slots in it about a half inch long, those are for the retainers. Remove the speaker and use a deep socket without an extension (1/4 drive) to remove the hard to reach handle nut. Oh ya, the window stays up.

Piece of cake install. Look at Doug's page www.svtlightnings.com on the how to links. It has all the part numbers, and goto www.fordpartsonline.com and ask for Gary. I think everything was $107 delivered. Everything is explained including how to get the yellow clip off the locking mechanism. I used a pair of needle nose pliers with a 90 degree angle and pulled toward the front of the door on the outside part of the clip closest to the outer skin. The clip popped right off, with no damage to either the fingers, or the clip. Whole install took about 30 min. and I took my time.

Hope this helps.
