PanHard Bar

I thought there was a thread with a picture of a panhard bar installed on an L.

Who makes them and where might I get one?

Besides the regular roads around here, lots of windy mountain roads thet could be quite fun in the L.

The panhard bar is made by Ruslow. He or Spike Engineering will have info--sorry, I don't.

i was curious bob, did you ever find out if traction bars would affect the pan hard and/or if the pan hard would affect drag racing?

'cake,

haven't heard anything official but since they work primarily on different axis, guess I'll be the beta tester.

Now to figure out which traction bars to do.... hmmmmm

Fire,

beefcake can vouch for the difference the panhard bar makes in cornering....

Thanks Bob,

I think the traction and panhard would compliment each other. If the panhard could keep the differential from rotating under torque, it would be similar to a pinion snubber. Just my .02

I have both...but I don't really drag race, so I couldn't really tell you. I got the panhard bar after my auto-x season ended, so I can't fully comment on it yet, but with both on the street, things have improved noticably.

Of course, I also put on Pirelli Pzero's around the same time, which helped too... sorry for being less then useful there. Heh.

I am having a little problem with the design of this locating device. By definition, the roll center of a panhard equiped rear suspension is at the height that the panhard crosses the vehical centerline (in this case, about 24 inches above ground) But the very design of a leaf-spring rear suspension will force the roll center to be about 8" below that point. Bottom line, I think this design goes into a huge bind in roll.

One way to prove this is to remove one of the two rod end bolts and then put the left front tire and the right rear tire on 4X4 s to put the entire chassis into twist. Now see if the if the bolt will go in without re-adjusting the length of the panhard rod.

IMHO these trucks have a larger problem with axle twist (traction
bars) not laterial (panhard) problems.

Noze,

Ruslow is the contact for this mod.

Check him out over in the NLOC's road racing forum.

Andy,

Point taken. might need to try this experiment in the Batcave... or something.

I can almost tell you that you won't get the bolt in.The design of the frame will tell you that.Drive one ft wheel onto the curb and park the truck like that then look at your bed to cab body lines. They won't be straight. So if the bolt did go in the frame would have to be well over 5000# per deflected inch.[Well into to NASCAR specs].But will try during the week the truck is on the ft end rack now .Stan
