Is this a common problem? Blown engines?

I hear alot about blown engines on this board. Is this really that much of a problem? Is it that common an occurance?
Has anyone had a stock motor blow out? Or is it just when you try to push them too hard with crazy mods?
It makes me want to seriously reconsider buying one. Please clear this up for me. =)

this is the biggest f150 forum i've seen, when people blow engines they look for answers to lots of questions they may have. I think what we are seeing lately is just a lot of people trying to figure out the limites of our engines,, if you think about it and you see maybe 5 blown 01 engines on this board, thats probably most of them out there right now, i'd like to see some real life stats on blown engines, you have to realize that not everyone who has a stock L is on this forum, when five people post about a blown engine, it really seems like a lot, but you have to realize that those are not real life figures. sure this is a big f150 forum, but its still a large forum, with many opinions that are shaped by small few who have actually had the problem.

hope i made sense its late

No, it's not at all common. I have to admit though, it has spooked the he11 right out of me. I've modded my vehicle. I've been real careful to not run any mods my truck wasn't tuned for in advance. I'm afraid that what was normal driving in my f-body is going to land me in the dealer service department with a voided warranty. It's sucking the fun right out of owning this truck. The chances are that I could run it just the same as any other vehicle I've ever had and not have a problem.

A lot of the guys on this forum say,"Drive it like you stole it." I say, "Drive it like you'll have to pay to get it fixed." Because, you probably will if you mod it at all. The dealer where I bought my truck offers 10yr-100,000 mile warranties on all his vehicles.....Steeda, Saleen, Roush, Sean Hyland, SVT......Everything except the L. Only the standard 3-36,000, unless you pay extra of course. That made me a little anxious as well.
