Ford rep says no mods.

I stopped at my Ford dealer today. To get the piston slap documented once again. The factory rep just happened to be there. He listened to the motor it was faint but you could here the rattle. First thing out of his mouth is are there any modifications on the truck . I say no. He says then there wont be a problem. Ford will stand behind the motor. The only mod I have is a K&N air filter. If I decide to get a new motor. I guess I will put the stock motorcraft back in . Bob.

Tell the rep how funny you think it is that for makes a race vehicle that they don't back if you put any mods on or race it. We obviously don't buy these trucks to just cruze from point A to B. We buy them to get From Point A to B in 2 seconds. If you build a race engine, you shoudl be a little leinlent with mods. It sucks that they don't back their product.

Better not tell him about those custom floor mats you put in. You never know...

Redlight special, Thanks for reminding me about the floor mats. When I go in for service I will put the OEM mats back in. HaHaHaHa. Bob.

D@MN! That means the next time I need to see my friendly dealer, I have to take all my mods off: floor mats, radio, speakers, billet antenna, bedrug, snuglid, HID lights, carbon fiber interior, & etc..... Hehehehe

What is unfortunate is that you are dealing with a company that speaks out of both side of its mouth. They want the Image of being performance orientated and willing to work with the customer. But that is all that it is an Image. The piston slap issue has been there from day one. Modifications did not cause it and the Manufacture knows that it is there. They are willing to operate on the assumption that most customers will not object and the zone reps are trained to foist the blame on the customer / owner.

just my own thoughts, but i think ford trains their techs to blame the consumer cause i'd be willing to bet too many people try and bring in a truck for a new engine that was running a 6 pound pulley, and a racing chip that blew its tranny. yes there are ways to correctly mod a truck, but it would be very tough for ford to set up guildelines as to the right and wrong ways to do so,,,, they back what they sell,, not what you put in it.
