Autometer Fuel Pressure Gauge
I know this info has been posted before, but since searching is disabled currently, I'll ask it again. I just got an Autometer dual gauge pillar, a mechanical boost/vac gauge, and an electrical fuel pressure gauge. I know I can use a "T" fitting to hook up the boost gauge from the stock gauge, but I'm not sure where the sender mounts for the fuel pressure gauge. I looked at the fuel rail, and there seems to be some sort of valve (schraeder valve maybe...) on the passenger side fuel rail. Do I remove this valve and install the sender there? If so, I think I may need some sort of adapter for it. Also, what wires should I tap into for the power for the electic gauge and the lights for both gauges? Does anyone who has done this before want to shed some light on this for me?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
wish the search function worked....
I installed a Fuel pressure gauge on Beefcake's truck. He would be a good contact on the adapter. I beleive he picked it up through Autometer.
As for power, any fused switched source would be sufficient (ie: radio) for the sending unit. Strip the wire, wrap it a couple times around the fuse (or purchase an adapter at Radio Shack) and reinsert the fuse.
Tapping into the ashtray light for the gauge light is probably the easiest and it will dim with the rest of the dash lights.
And of course, ground wire to the body of the vehicle.
Hope this helps.

I just got the triple guage pillar. Was wondering what you guys did to paint it to match your interior. Mine came black and I have a light grey interior (med. graphite I think). Was going to just paint it but was wondering if I need to do any additional prep work first. Do I need to spray it with primer first? Should I give it a light sand? Also where did you guys get the correct paint from? I called the Ford shop and they wanted to sell me a Huge can of paint. Can I just go to a local shop and look for the touch up spray paint?
Thanks for the responses guys.
Rocketir,
I also tried buying the paint from my local Ford parts dept., but they said they can't sell it to me here in CA because of an EPA law. I'm not sure where you are in the bay area, but I went to San Carlos Paints/California CarColor, and they were able to mix up a pint of it for me. The color is actually Light Graphite (Medium Graphite is used on the dash top itself, but the doors and pillars are Light Graphite). As far as prepping the pillar, the paint shop recommended using "Plastic Prep" and a fine Scotch Brite pad to clean any grease, oils, or dirt from the pillar. California CarColor has other locations in the Bay Area as well.
