Road Rage- a little long

I was coming down the NYS Thruway on my way to work and several 100 yards ahead of me there was another vehicle weaving from lane to lane. As I approach in the right hand lane. its a big four door BWM sedan in the left hand lane. I proceed to put my blinker on and move into the center lane to pass a slower moving vehicle. At the same time, psycho boy in the beemer tries to get into the center lane from the left lane. I drop the hammer and blast off in front of him. This must of pi$$ed him off to know end. I got in the left lane and began to slow down to a cruising speed. The beemer flew past me on the right, cut me off, and proceeded to slam on his brakes. Thank god for my new billet racing pedals for I was able to avoid any rear end collision. He did this to me several more times until I went into the center lane and accelerated to get away from him. He flew past me again and he was yelling and screaming. I slowed to about 45 and just cruised behind him to avoid any other conflicts. If I went into another lane, he would also do so. When we got to the toll booth, he went through one to my left, paid before I did, and pulled out and blocked the path with his car so as I couldnt pull out. He got out of his car and walked over to my truck. Pretty big guy, dressed professionally and said "Big man in the badass truck". I rolled my window down and said "come on man, give me a break, i'm on my way to work, we didnt have any contact, whats the big deal" He just looked at me and walked back to his car. It looked like he read my plate number when he walked away. Could he do anything with that if he had connections? Just had to vent that sorry!

i dont think so at all, there's no way because all that is is heresay,, no evidence and he's not considered an expert witness like a cop would be. I once had a lady with her daughter in the front of her car do that to me over and over again,,,, i got soo soo pissed i just followed her, didn't do a thing but follow her, i just so happened to be going the same direction so i spooked her by always being in her lane and stuff,,, it worked casue one of the next lights she decided to run when it was red,,, sure enough she gets pulled over by the cop sitting at the stop light. What an excuse that would be,,,"officer, i'm sorry but i was scared cause i was swearing and yelling and trying to make someone hit me and my daughter and they got all mad and were scaring me!!"

Another time i actually ended up friends with the guy,, i cut him off by mistake, and he got real pissed and stopped totally in front of me at the turn lane i was making,,, a fist fight started and i gave him a good shot to the nose, at which point he gave up and looks at me and says" thats the most fun i've had,, didn't expect any of this to happen" Which proves the point that some people are just crazy

Way to go though rhino slug,, its tough to keep your cool when someone is trying to pick a fight like that.

I usually try to keep my cool because I am a licensed gun owner and I always have on my mind that the person that you are getting to get into an altercation with might be one also. Or carrying a gun illegally. This guy didnt know me. How does he know I'm not going to get out of my truck and blast him. I could be just as crazy as he is. But I'm not. So we were both able to leave that little incident without any bodily damage. You gotta be careful out there, there is always someone more wacko then the next.

Do anything..........HIM
It is you that could do something. You COULD or should have got witnesses and his license plate or called the Highway Patrol or asked the toll booth operator to call;
He got out of his car and walked over to my truck. Pretty big guy, dressed professionally and said "Big man in the badass truck".
1. Assault
flew past me on the right, cut me off, and proceeded to slam on his brakes.
2. Reckless driving
He did this to me several more times until I went into the center lane and accelerated to get away from him. He flew past me again and he was yelling and screaming.
3. Assault w/deadly weapon- his car

Something similar.........

happened to me back when I was driving my 86 Saab 9000T. I was p.....ed off about something and cut across in front of a guy's car. When we both stopped for a traffic light, he gets out of his car and walks up to my window and starts threatening me. I had my Sig Saur in my lap and raised it up and told him to get back in his car............I calmed down after that. Be cautious guys, but protect yourselves(and your family too) when it's necessary.

You played it cool, which was the smart thing to do. I would have been tempted to run his sorry a$$ over if he got out and started walking up to my vehicle. Dangerous times...

'Good job keep'n your cool.

Bad drivers are everywhere (many here in Miami) and it is difficult to hold back sometimes. But in reality, a confrontation will only make things worse.

I even had a guy on a motorcycle get in front of me slam on his brakes daring me to hit him after I got in "his" lane while he was
doing Mach 1.

Good job

diffusing the situation. It could've easily gotten out of hand... well, actually, it did, but you did get him to walk away...

On the Assault - most states won't prosecute simple assault without it being witnessed by a cop. nice try though...

Ditto traffic offenses.

He could've killed you, just like that. You were (presumably) prevented from retreat on both sides and the rear, and he blocked you from the front. If he had a gun, tire iron, knife, hammer, garrot and sufficient anger- you would be pushing up daisies. Most toll booths have no armed cops, you were on your own and could easily have been a statistic.

Personally, I think he would've had a hard time making smart alic comments with a 295 F1 sitting on top of his chest

Consider that someone here in the state of VA got a jail sentence for getting in front of someone and then hitting their brakes. The dumbass behind him swerved instead of braking, shot off the road, and ended up dying. So even though the guy wasn't a good driver, Mr. Road Rage got sentenced. (Think vehicular manslaughter, with prison time plus probation, etc., etc.)

So now realize that any sort of altercation like this, whether vehicular contact or no, has the potential to go very awry. For that reason alone I pretty much shy away from getting involved with anyone in that regard. Heck, I'll just stop if they want to get in front of me and try and hit the brakes. If I have to, I'll pull over onto the shoulder and put it in reverse, then start backing up. Most people don't have the cojones to follow that manuver and go about their business.

Cool

HI!... This is how I do things here in CANADA.

You ride my a$$, I slam on my brakes.

You constantly hit your brakes in front of me, I don't hit my brakes and hit you.

You get out of your car and threaten me you get knocked out and get a nice veiw of the inside of a ambulance.

Ask IZZY EDDY and JMC. They've been out cruising with me.

Man those are examples of daily driving here in Florida.Car Wars is a way of life.A Lightning is the perfect weapon. It's big and fast.If you drive anything bigger, you'll never catch me.If you drive anything smaller, you're a victim.
I've straightened my valance so many times that I'm thinking about push bars.Shame on anyone that walks up to my window.Florida is a "right to shoot state".Some of you may think that sounds crazy but Florida can be a crazy place.People here have stickers that say"dont shoot,I'm a local".

And just so you know, you can get anyones name and adress with a license plate number. You don't have to be a cop.You just call the DMV and they'll give you that info. It's part of public records and is not protected. Some states charge a small fee for looking it up for you.

I am a cop and you did the right thing. I have seen and worked first hand a road rage shooting resulting in death. A .38 to the head is not a nice picture. All over someone cutting the other person off. Next time call the police. You will be amazed how much we can help.
