Talking Pro Fit Fuel Door on 01 L installed

http://www.fueldoors.com/rick/r1.jpg

Had the first production fuel door from Pro Fit installed over the weekend. Since this was the first production door they agreed to install it at no cost. During the install they hit a few snags in regards to the fiberglass bowl that fits around the filler nozzle. They retooled the mounting bracket so it could handle the deviations that comes from Ford during the assembly process. After the adjustments the door fit was tiiiiight.
The attention that they have taken with the fit and details is exceptional and the quality of the material is also top notch. You pay for what you get so depending on the options you choose be prepared to spend a little $. (200 & up)
The model I picked was a brushed aluminum with clear coat. They have a lot of options for finishes, bolt patterns etc. It's operated with an electric motor mounted under the truck that operates an actuator. The door pops open then you rotate it counter clockwise to access your stock cap. It can be connected to and aftermarket alarm system or a switch can be added inside the cab of the truck. I have the internal switch.

First time trying to use the link if you can open it there is 6 pictures r1-r6 of the truck and the door.

Thought I would share it with other L owners.

Is there an alternate way to open it if the actuator fails?
Do they make one to fit the Screw?
Thanks RJG, it looks very good.

Looks good

I always believed that if you want quality sometimes you have to pay for it.Noticed 99-00 wheels on. Did not like the 01 look?

Pro Fit Fuel Door

WhiteSTX ,

You can reach the cable under the truck if the motor fails so you can manually open the door. As far as fitting the the Screw I''m not sure. Drop drew@fueldoors.com a note and he should be able to answer that question.

Hole Shot,
As far as dropping my times they dropped by .2 tenths, must be because I was lighter in the wallet

Vinnie,
Yeah I liked the looks of the 99-00 wheels. Personal preference I guess. May look into the 20'' when the tires go away.
