Question about electric fan
Question about electric fan
I have managed to come across an electric fan from a Mark VIII and I have in the garage a Corbra R water pump, anyone know what else I need to hook all this up, by way of Thermostat, controls, electronics etc... I'm looking to have OEM quality and appearence on the electrical connections, nay help out there?
Thanks,
G

I am in the middle of doing this installation right now...you'll need the appropriate temp sensor (threaded to allow installation into the 3/8 pipe plug in the drivers side of the block), a relay (since the fan draws quite a bit of current), 30 AMP circuit breaker (for safety sake), and the connector to plug into the fan (if you don't already have it). The rest is basic wiring per a typical relay circuit.
If you want to get fancy, you can also add in a circuit to kick the fan on all the time whenever the A/C is on by tapping into the A/C relay in the fuse box on the LH fender. Let me know if you need more detailed help.

I saw the Painless wiring kit at Summit racing, I was just wondering if it could be adaptede to plug into the factory plug on the fan, maybe cut off the other end connector from one at a junkyard?
Prolly gonna go that way.
Thanks for the help.

The M8 fan is a very common swap on the Mustang. I just did one a couple of months ago on my Mustang. There's a good website on this. As you'll see, 30 amp circuits don't cut it.

I have been trying to contact you in regards to transmission work. I would like to get your upgrade tranny work. I believe you refer to it as the "killer" upgrade. Please contact me at collisionpros@alltel.net and I will give you my phone?vice versa to talk with you. Thanks, Dave

Electric fan
If you want a good heavy duty relay to control your fan, Bosh rated at 75 amps, go to Electricfanengineering.com. They have temperature switches at 10 degree increments that will cover what every thermostate you are running that come with the Bosh relay.
Hope this helps.

i used two 14 inch fans in my application but for one "MARK" fan it should be easire since only one fan..
the negative on the fan goes to chassic ground.
the positive goes to a fuse the to the "30" post on a relay
the "87" post on the relay goes to battery positive
the "86" post of the relay goes to chassis ground
and
the "85" post goes to the coolant sensor (i picked one up at JL) and then the other post on the sensor goes to 12V switched...
