Its official--LightningRod was #1 at SDR

(sorry Dan...you know me ) Yesterday, at Silver Dollar Raceway with over 200 cars/trucks running, LightningRod ended the day #1. I was there from 1st pass to the LAST and can verify
this. Way to go DAN!!!!!!!!!!! It took you 6months but you did it. I was so close.......

Fastest at his home track? Hmmm. Sounds like a conspiracy. (j/k Dan)

Thanks guys:

Jerry(cablebandit) is pullin' your leg. He's a good friend and all he is sayin' is that I got there early enough to get #1 on my truck--for time slip ID. Jerry was up to his usual, no big deal self and clicked off a 12.4xx in his turboed WS6 but he arrived right after me, so he didn't get #1. We surely had a good time though Sat.

Thanks Sammy,

I can't wait to see it!

Alright CC, I hear you snickerin'. You can feel the 'heat' of my L chompin' at your tail feathers, can't you golfin'(he lives right on the Master's golf course) boy ? I'm comin' to git you. It's too bad you couldn't break away from your g/f's apron strings(from an ol' bluegrass song) and join all of the 20+ Ls that showed up over here in 'cosmopolitan' Reynolds, Ga.. Oh, wait--they don't sell zylene in this part of the country(somethin' about it messes up the chittlins?) so you were afraid that your L would ping in the rareified air of middle Georgia. I understand. Btw, how're those denim seat covers holdin' up?

All kiddin' aside; I had the hitch, spare tire, jack, and tail gate removed--thas' all!

Dan

Let's see:
dropped the hitch assembly
dropped the spare
dropped... wait, that's it!

added 50lbs of sound dampening material
added Rhino-Lining
added one very intellgent, good-looking engineer to DRIVE it correctly (that's me )

Adds up to... lemme see, that's a one... add the two, carry the six, and...ummmm carry the three.

Buwahahahaha!

CornerCarver,
I was over at Dan's today. I thought his jaws were going to break with that smile he was still carrying from yesterday. The funniset part of the whole thing was on Dan's last run; he was down to his undershirt and jeans (trying to get as light weight as he could)....... "he beat the young stud Rusty's reaction time". I think this is a first for silverhaired Dan When Dan realized he hat beat Rusty's reaction time, it was a KODAK Moment. It tuckered Dan out so much he went straight home after that run. A reaction time better than Rusty. Calm down Rusty... just pulling your chain.

I was a bystander this time with the tire fiasco. WIll post it for everyone tomorrow night. It was fun and meet some great people. Yall do it again!

LOL!

Could you imagine what he would have done if he ran a 12.62? You guys did have an EMS Unit at the track right?

Corner, Dan was all bowed up when he ran that 12.69 i went over to him and razzed him a bit "Dan I hope you f&%^ better than you drive!" The lightning turnout was awesome! Dan I did not live up to my own expectations as my best was only a 12.2 on a 2.0 60' but i did hit 122.4 mph If I ever get this thing to launch I'll be able to pass you at the 60' mark instead of the 1000' mark

hey master loggie and all, dan sure whipped up on me bad. i just didnt have my head in the game i was baffled by not hooking up i guess. he cut a good .573 to my terrible .601. i had an off day all together. but i did get some of my confidence back today i got under the truck and tried to figure out what i had done wrong. i found out that i could move the bed of the truck up and down and there was bout a 1 inch amount of play in there b/t the bolt on the bottom of my shock and the bushing inside. so i took it apart to find that the other night at 1 in the morning i had put the wrong size bushing in there. so i took it out and installed the correct size and it took all the play out, the right side just wasnt tightened well enuff, so i snugged it up. and off to the races i went this afternoon. the truck was really hooking good today but it just seems like its not making the power it was. i ran a 1.84 60' but a measley 8.28 @ 83.6mph. something is just not kicking here. i had a 1600 rpm launch with no tire spin at all this track always hooks well but today was exceptional. those shocks really helped out i believe. 1st run was a 8.40 with a 1.95 with shocks on 5 clicks i set them soft as they would go and last run i pulled the 1.84. im coming after u dan but i gotta get me a new program first this one is to safe i believe.

Rusty, Masterloggie, cablebandit....

You guys are too much--can we all just have a 'group hug'?

Rusty, we had a great race--very, very close--I had my right eye on ya the whole way down the strip--I kept muttering to myself " I got him, I got him--come on sweetness, keep gettin' on flyin'!" You'll get me next time and we'll both beat up on ol' CornerCarver unless he takes up WeightWatchers . I was glad to read that you found the install problem on the shock--got to be better now?

Ron, those pics of Karen---I mean, those pics of the Ls and the owners you gave to me are outstanding. Thanks again--and, wait a minute! Guys, M/L(Ron) took me for a 'ride' Sun. afternoon in his red(I mean RED ) 00L. Went to my 'country drag strip road' and he nailed it from a roll and then from a standing start--holy cow! This was my first time as a passenger in a L with a couple of WOT spins---you should of run her at SDR Ron--next time for sure.

Sorry, Jerry--thought your best was a 12.4xx--you'll be in the 11s at SDR as you are at Steele--soon! I'll check out the video when I get home tonight--thanks again.

Dan
