Just wanted to let you guys know I ran a Z06 tonight from about 60-85ish and stayed right beside him. Had to shut it down due to cops.So go hunting for them.I'm sure we can take them down low even better.Later.

 

I ran one from 0 to 100 and it was neck and nect, I beat him by about 1 foot

At the time all I was running was a custom chip.

The driver about smashed his stearing wheel in he was so mad. He rolled his window down and asked me what I did to my truck to make it so fast. Thas when I told him that I only chipped it, BTW he knew what a Lightning was.

I guess my truck is good for maybe a 13.3 1/4 at best and the Z06 is a second quicker, so how in the world can some of these Z06 turn 12.3 in the 1/4 I don't know?

hey man sounds true to me. me and my buddy have run them and we beat them both till top end. our lightnings just have exhaust.

Are you guys sure you are running Z06's and not regular C5's? Becasue if it was a Z06 and you stayed with him from 0-100 on the street either it was a Z06 look-alike or the worst driver in the world! There is a guy in my town who has a stock 01 Z06 and I will assure no L with a chip/filter/pulley is going to out run him. Espically if the L is running F-1's!

 

The Z06 is a bitch for some people to launch, especially if they haven't practiced , so I could definitely see the 0-100 happening, but not from a roll. Throw a few mods on the L and it's a different story........
So was this race at band camp?

Hey Brian. Didn't you read? You don't need the NOS to beat the Z06 from a roll. You'll just need to use it when you're top end is coming up. And don't forget, the only mod you need is an exhaust.

Well, when I raced my Z06 dude, it was about 30 degrees outside and I suspect that it helped my SC Lightning more than the NA Z06.

This is the only way I can see that I won. I suspect if it was about 95 degrees outside I'de have my bottom handed to me pretty easy.

As far as the bad launch I'm not so sure he had a bad launch.

We raced when he was to my right and I never saw him in the side window/mirror or rear. He was in my blind spot the entire time. Only when I lifted did I see him, and as soon as I did, I saw his nose point out in front of me. This is how I came up with the 1 foot guess.

BTW, remember when I posted that he rolled his window down? That's when HE told me he had a Z06, but in all fairness I do remember paper tags on, so maybe it wasn't broke in yet?

 

Motor Trend TV just tested a new stock 02 ZO6 on TV this morning.
It went 0-60 in 4.0-turned the 1/4 in 12.4! Your L would have to be modded with 4# pulley/chip/filter/and exhaust to stay with it.
Just after the 1/4 mile mark, the ZO6 will start reeling you in FAST!!!

 

No stock L will even hardly stay with a C5. They low 13's stock. Sorry guys but I love L's & Vette's. I am with the raising of a BS flag. When we ran one with the Turbo Elcipse (thats Runs 12.60-70's) we barely hung with it through the 1/4 and after that is a joke....

 

umm..guys just keep in mind that alot of people CANT DRIVE A MANUAL!!!!!! I saw a C5 (bright yellow) run at Moroso.. 15.7somethin, backed up by 15.7somethin. Followed by a new Porsche, that according to my buddies who know them alot better than I do, should run 13s. He ran 14.9s backed up by a 14.8. For all we know the guy in the Z06 should have down shifted and didnt. Should the Z06 have won? I'm thinkin it should have won by alot, but you never know how bad of a driver these guys are. Yes he could be full of it, but I'd say theres an equal chance that the guy in the Z06 just couldnt drive. In fact, I'd say that alot of kills I see on the L boards (no disrespect, these things haul @$$, and a win is a win) but if everyone that has a hi-po car with a stick could drive it right, and like they mean it, there would probably be alot more loses being posted. But hey, its not our fault they cant drive.........
