Please Restrain Me.

I put mine on the Dyno last week.....It looks rich to me. I asked a local tuner what he thought about the A/F ratio and he said there was maybe another 20 horses to be had...10.5 was the line from 4200 and 10.0 above 4600. If I push it and lean it further I am concerned it may be walkin' the old tightrope. I may but I may not. I plan to fax the graphs and data to Sal and see what he thinks. I have heard him state numerous times that he is conservative with the parameters in his chips. Looking at the blown motors I think I am seeing a trend ...in the type chip being used. Maybe someone is pushing the limits to claim superiority. We all must accept the risk. BUt we can minimize the exposure.
Is 385 peak HP and 475 peak torque enough? I don't think so.....
There is a little Devil sitting on My shoulder and he keeps whispering...bigger pulley...cobra h2O pump, electric fan....cold air intake....100-150 shot of gas...and whatever is next. FT explosion proof tranny and manley rods.....my hands are shakin' and my throat is dry...........Novi prepumper.....traction bars..cage....I must be contained............Raise Hell...

I know the feelin'--I keep on addin' to it too. Next has to be some exhaust help.

Cool

I read your dyno graphs from the other day and i noticed they were set on STD instead of SAE which most of the lightnings use for there correction factor. There is a big difference between the two as much as 10-12HP difference.I would go back to your dyno man and have him reprint you the SAE dyno numbers because there still in your file in his computer.I would most definitely send your graphs of your air-fuel to your tuner and let him adjust accordingly to your needs!

12.5/1 is a pretty safe number and I think most of the tuners and race engine builders will agree that at that ratio you should be able to run it all day long with no problems.

HighRoller,

I plan to do that. They said come on down. By the way the tuner I spoke with locally tuned another Lightning on this dyno and got 405 and 500 Foot pounds. That truck had a 4 # unlike my 3 # pulley. Only real diference. Less mileage on the truck. I'm guessing it was a bit colder temperature. This tuner said he uses STD and not SAE numbers. He has tuned many a stang and several Lightnings. He has a very good reputation from what I gather. You bet if I'm comparing std to sae I want that data. Hell I would feel great to be approaching the 400\500 club. A good friend of mine just bought an 02 and I don't want to give him bogus info or recommend anything that would hurt his ride. I know he is getting the "Fever"....I`ll post those SAE numbers MOnday or Tuesday. Thanks for pouinting this out.

Jeff

Just to let you know when your dyno man reprints your new SAE data for you your numbers will be lower not higher! Looking forward on seeing the difference between the two for your truck.

Push Push Push POOOF! LOL.

You guyz kill me, hahaha. If you're going to do it, do it right and build the motor. All i see are quicky ways to squeeze our poor motors, chips, pulleys, even Nitrous and then they blow up and / or burn down, lolol. I love my truck, she's runs great without a problem, but i'm not the fastest one at the track. Oh ya, She hasn't even seen a track yet, lol.
