It should not have any amperage going through it.
Buy saying EBC uyour talking about a Mtx Amp correct.

What model number is it, Im gonna play with one tomm and see if there is voltage going through that wire.

And i would call up the Amp manufacturer and talk to there tech dept, see what they have to say.

How was the wire shorted out?

 

Yes it is an MTX 8302 I believe, I'll check the model. The excess wire was rolled up & wiretied to the to something under the seat. It's hard to tell exactly what it was tied to in the charcoal that was left. My guess is that one of the loops of wire came out of the tie & ended up between the seat rails & got pinched by moving the seat up & back.
