Need advice with my exhaust problem
Ok, maybe some of you remember i had an earlier post about my magnaflow install robbing me of power.
Well i was confused whether it was the muffler(12468) or the crimped points at the bends on the pipe after the muffler to the tips which they had to customize from factory to mount out to the tips. To all magnaflow owners i gotta question. All of you that had a magnaflow install, did you have to change this pipe also? If so what did you do to eliminate the muffler shop using their own pipes without the mandrel bends that are found on the factory pipe? I took the truck to a buddy's perfomance shop and he put it on a lift and told me that was definitely my problem.
I was wondering if anyone knew if magnaflow makes a cat back system specifically for the lightning that includes mandrel bent pipes that mount directly to the tips. I can't find any shops that has a mandrel bending machine no where in Ga. Anyway, another buddy of mines has a full bassani exhaust system. Bassani ceramic coated headers, Xpipe, mufflers and tips. He's asking about 1200bucks for the entire system used. I'm satisfied with the sound of my magnaflow and kinda weary about buying the bassani especially with headers..His truck sounds extremely loud and thats what i don't want. My buddy at the perfomance shop mentioned Gibson exhaust, but havent heard anyone talking much about those.
My question is, should i invest in the bassani xpipe system new without the headers possibly? If so , how much does that system cost and is it much louder than my magnaflow 12468 muffler? Will i regain my horsepower back and then some over what i had stock?
If the bassani is louder than my magnaflow, i'll just settle and trash the magnaflow and install my factory muffler but i don't have the pipes out to the tips. I'd rather have my power back over sound any day. If anyone still have their factory mufflers with the pipes still attached and interested in selling them, let me know and how much?
Thanks!
