Project

Hey all,
I want to setup a project car just to learn as much as possible. What would you all suggest i do. I was thinking about buying just a short block from http://www.thefordsource.com/store/m...otorsports.htm
and just building it up. Then once I finish that...find a body to put it in, work on a tranmission, and get her running good. I like the 87-90 mustang bodies. Would a 351W fit in there...well i know it will fit so i guess the question is what does it take to get one to fit?

What do you all suggest.

thanks

Before you go starting some project did you ever get your truck to the dealer for a look-at? If so what's up? Did you get in touch with Sal about a "group tune" or a built motor? Inquiring minds want to know!

I am bringing the truck into a local mechanic today and see if he can figure out whats wrong...then if its something big like a ventilated block(new word for me), i will bring it in to ford..but if it something small i am goin to see how much it will cost to get fixed somewhere else so i dont have to deal with ford voiding my warranty.

I decided not to ask sal to come out here. Instead I am going as local as possible. I got in contact with Byron at apex and he said he was going to purchase the software to tune lightning chips. If I do get my engine rebuilt it will be done by HCI motorsports up in sacramento--thanks to D Coburn for telling me about them--and will be installed by APEX...Byron said that before me he only had 3-4 requests for lightning tunes but know that more people are asking he is ordering the software, i think he ordered it today in fact. I called APEX before I emailed byron and they said ask him for pricing...well i did and he told me to ask APEX for pricing...so all I know now is that APEX charges $100 for a dyno run..I dont know how much extra Byron will chrage to tune the chip.

ill keep you informed.

If you want a Mustang, I'd just try to find one first, and then you could pull the engine and rebuild it. Maybe you could find a Stang with a "blown" engine. Whatever you do, I suggest you study your ideas as much as possible before you spend the money.

hey

Just want to know a few things...don't take this the wrong way,

1)Why do you even have a lightning if you're only 15 and don't have a license
2)Why would you want to spend money building up a stang when you have such a beautiful machine sitting in your driveway to spend money on a buildup?

3) Now i get why you haven't brought it to ford....if it's minor you'd rather pay to have it fixed than strip the truck....

Chances are if you have coolant and oil leaking , either your ran somthing over that cut a line and poked a hole in your oil pan....and that's what flew out and hit your frends car....or you have a big ouchey in your motor. Keep us informed

Hey man, why don't you build two mustangs! Lets see maybe a 67 fastback w/ a 428 and a 84 SVO. I may know where you could pick up both.

Take it from an old man, 37 years old; do one thing at a time. Concentrate on the L.
