HELP! Ford trying to SCREW me over! HELP!

My instrument cluster lights went out a ciuple of days ago. I took it into Ford to have them fix it. One problem, I have autometer gauges. Now they're claming that they shorted out the dash. I think they are lying. what do I do? I didn't install the gauges, do you even tap into the instrument cluster. The guy I bought he truck form had the gauges profesionally done by Steeda Autosports. What do I do.

I think other people have had dash light problems on this board. How long did the lights work with the guages before they shorted out?

I don't know it got it used and they were on when I bought it. But obviously it must have worked for 1000's of miles.

You know that there are two fuses for the dash lights, right? One on the regular panel and one under the hood.

Also, since you didn't install the gauges, you never know, they may actually HAVE shorted out the cluster. Depends on how they were hooked up... probably had to tap into the dimmer signal.

In the manual there is a fuse-diagram for the engine compartment fuse/relay box. Its on the right side by the airbox.

thats bull, in the last year, ive had to replace 2 lightning clusters dues to the illum quitting. (we are a small town with just a few L's around)

and anyone that knows a lot about electronics knows that "shorting" the cluster or wiring or whatever wont damage the cluster (the load) it would only blow fuses or damage a dimmer or something (the source)

if the truck is still under warr. i suggest you not say anything else to that dealership and just go to another one.
