I've never lost to an R/T.Never won against one either.I can't get one to run me at all.I can't remember who said it,(forgive me,you know who you are) R/T owners love to wear the shoes but hate to bowl.Thats a classic.

5 or 6 showed up at 'my' track a few months ago. I think I was runnin' low 13s or high 12s at the time. I lined up beside one--got out and looked it over. He had a filter kit, big(4"?) exhaust pipe and tip, carbon fiber dash treatment(LOL), etc.

I started to strike up a conversation but he was more interested in talkin' to his buddies, so I got back in my L. A few minutes later, a woman walked up to him and I heard her say "You're gonna get spanked." He did .

Now if I could only have gotten lined up with the ZR1 that was runnin' mid-13s...................

After three consecutive lights the guy in the RT actually pulled over and gave my brother the $20. My Gen 1 only has a K/N and flowmasters but that 4.10 gear is lethal off the light.
A Gen 1 with just a filter and mufflers only add about 10-12 h.p. tops .That would put your L in about a 15 -15.3 e.t. A stock reg cab R/T will do a 15.3-15.5 E.T. That had to be a very close race. My 95 has more work than that and I manage a 14.6 E.T. and got spanked by a R/T extra cab by about 2 lengths.I don't know what he had but he gave me the thumbs up at the next light. My L has whipped a lot of other Gen. 1 L's and that was the only time I lost to a Dodge !! ( how embarasking!)

Red face

Yeah, just last night, as a matter of fact. I got him out of the hole (that TDI motor has a lot of torque) but he pulled me bad above 30. You can only do so much with 90 h.p.

Cool

Ok, I actually lost 2 out of 3 times to 13/2ndRT at the 1/8th mile track in Denton. I think he was running a 100shot. 100 degree weather; August of 2000 if I remember correctly. Actually motivated me to go beyond the chippenfilter stage.

Not all R/Ts are slow and not all R/T guys are jerks; just most of em.

I beg to differ on a Gen 1 with only flowmasters and K&N being able to run 15.3s. My 94L with 97000miles has ran a best of 14.96@89.28 with those mods and some timing. I haven't taken any weight off of her either...I ran a purple extended cab on the highway coming home one night from HRP and the first time he got the jump and it was pretty hard to real him in. The second time we took off at the same time from around 50 and I only had him by about 1/2-3/4 car length. His nose was at my back tire. Don't know what mods he had though...

Hey Noze:

That quote came from me--"they hate to bowl but love the shoes!". Alas, I 'stole' it from an advertising promo for 'The John Boy and Billy" radio show. But thanks for remembering and mentioning it .

Ok I just going to make a general statment to put an end to this!

99.9999999% of all the R/T's in this world would get spanked by a GEN2 L. And thats the bottom line!

~Sighs and hangs his head in shame~

I....I got beat by an R/T....

But, see, it wasn't my fault...I only had one good hand at the time to use on m'wheelchair and he beat me by only half a second or so. However, I think I may have had a low pressure issue in the left tire.

Cool

Well GenI and GenII Lightnings are not the only things that can beat an R/T. I beat one in a street race that didn't get above 45 mph but at the Desoto Drag Strip down here in Florida I got to compare my times to an R/T that was running that night. Very warm and humid, I was running consistant 14.7's to his 15'?s. I checked out his truck, He had a Ken Bell, Nitto's, and all the toys. As the temp dropped we decided to make one last run. I ran a 14.642 to his 14.7?? to be fair, He had a very cute little blonde that probably weighed 110 lbs riding with him!

No! There's one at my track that is faster than me but every time we race in Brackets I tree him. Last time we raced he ran right on his number and still lost to me.
