It might be cheeper for you to buy a new built engine from sal.

It would be much better to "ship" Sal to you. Contact him, he will travel (schedule permitting) for custom work and tuning. Let the rest of us know if you bring him out. I would gladly make a trip to the Bay area for a custom tune. You will need to find a dyno shop with a DynoJet machine. Line up enough people to help offset the cost. Count me in!

When I moved from San Diego to the Tampa area I shipped my Mustang on a car carrier. It was $700 in 1997 one way. Don't remember the company but there are quite a few.

wow

Heavy thinking. Too many variables come into play when shipping your truck cross country. Could end up with even more damage, especially if they have to drag it around because it's not drivable. Since the majority of your motor is trashed, I think everyone is right. Have a built engine shipped out to you, and find a recommended shop to have the engines swapped. Sal should have the engine specs handy to recallibrate your chip if needed.

well i found a few near me

go here and put in california
http://www.smokemup.com/utilities/dyno/dynosearch.cfm

the following two are probably the closest ones to me:
G-F Automotive
210 Ryan Way
S. San Francisco , CA 94080
415-952-8440

Group A Autosports
25710 Industrial Blvd. Unit #2
Hayward , CA 94545
510-781-0538

i dont know anything about them, but i do know some about APEX racing and just realized they have a dyno. we would probly be better off foing with them, read this

Want to know just how much horsepower and torque your car has? Because of high demand, APEX Motorsports is proud to have recently installed an in-house Dynojet chassis dyno, capable of 1,200hp and 200mph. We can custom-tune your EEC-IV/EEC-V Mustang using AutoLogic Chip Master software. We can precisely monitor the AFR (air/fuel ratio) using a wide-band oxygen sensor system. As well, we have the ability to load the rear wheels for part-throttle testing, something most dynos can't do. APEX Motorsports will often accomodate local car clubs for a day of dynoing. We usually require at least six cars.
If your club would like to arrange for a dyno day, or you would like pricing for your own car to be dyno'd, please e-mail us.

but again, where would sal be able to get the tools and space to work on the truck. i would say do it at my house but i only have the basic tools and probably dont have enogh room

just my opinion

don't put the cart before the horse. I would contact sal first before discussing it any further. He'd be quite surprised to find reservation for him on this post I still don't understand why you haven't had it to ford yet and give it a shot. I feel like you could be throwing thousands away. If you're gonna bring it in, you better do it quick before the broken metal starts to oxidize and condensation builds in the oil and block, then any knoledgable person will be able to see it's been sitting blown up for a while. Just my opinion. Strip the mods and bring it in. Even if you want to have it built.....if ford will warrenty it, let them pay for the motor. It will cost less to have to take the motor out and build it than to buy and new motor, have it built, and swapped. Maybe as much as half the cost. I've been quoted 2500 to 3 grand to have my motor pulled and have the lower end built. Your looking at probably 3-4 grand for a block or 5-6 grand for a motor complete. Tack on the build up labor and parts, plus the swap, you could easily be close to 10 k!!! What do the rest of you guys think?

I think I would talk to Sal FIRST! Then go from there, if he can make it worthwhile with some trucks there for him to tune, plus yours.........but like I said at the beginning

didnt know that they could tell how long it has been sitting blown. but even if it was sitting there for a long time and they found out, what does that matter? I am talking to the same guy the handled my sisters car and he said just bring it in when you have the time and make sure you have your last oil change receipt. I told him the engine blew. the reason i havent brought it in to the dealer YET, is because i havent had time. as you probly know i am only 15 and dont have a liscense so its a lot harder to bring it in than if i had one. i need someone that can drive to come with me. all my friends that can drive are at school, my sister is at school, and my mom is at work, so im pretty much stuck here.

But I woul damn well find time to get that thing in man. You'll be married with children before that this is running again before you know it

J15-

Shouldn't you be in school as well?? :o

On the off chance that you do have Sal come out, let me know.... I will have him swap my engine as well. Seriously... maybe we can split the cost.
