L Sound System, what do you recommend?

I'm lookin to buy an all new system for the truck. What do you guys recommend. I don't want to spend over $750. I want clearer sound, subs can come later. Any input would help. Thanks a lot.

i would go with pioneer 6865's. if you are going to get subs then i would forget about the rear spekaers cuz you wolnt even hear them. but for now you may want to get them. as for the amp...just get any name brand like Alpine, Rockford, Kenwood, etc. that puts out either 2x50 or 4x50 rms depending on what setup you get. if you plan on upgrading the HU there are hundreds of options...i personally have the Kenwood KVT-910DVD but thats a little steep for most people

hope this helps

spend your money on a good source unit,, (around $400) two speakers and an amp to power them with,, that should cost you around $700 and you should be happy,,,,,, happier once you get your subs though

Go with Memphis PR93s in the front and Memphis PR57Ss in the rear. You will need to do a very small amount of cutting to get the 6x9s to fit, but the 5x7s screw right in. It should only cost around $200 for these speakers, and you will love them. They sound awesome even with the stock deck. The only problem with the Memphis line is finding an authorized dealer. Go to http://www.memphiscaraudio.com/scripts/dealers5.asp and enter the first TWO digits of your area code. This will show you the closest dealers to you. Here is there website if you want more information.

i agree with these guys and put the money into a great head unit
but.... check ebay i just baught 4 brand new polk dx7s and a brand new kenwood 9017 head unit for all around 450.00 and with the kenwood's 50w x 4 the sound is sick!!!!!!!! there is a lot of dealers that have brand new stuff still in the box at great prices. i would just be careful of putting used stuff in my lightning!

2 momo 10'' later

i'd always reccomend an authorized dealer,, what happens when you speakers blow if you bought them from somone online? beleive me,, maybe i'm bad and can't hear distortion, but i've already lost a kicker sub that was only 3 months old,,, when i took it back to the dealer, they didn't care what i did to it, or even if it really was blown,, they just swapped it for a new one and said, ok,, if you didn't blow it we will you can never beat that type of service for a whole three years.
